Monday 3/17
5x5 Week 20 Begin
SQUAT
Misc warmup.
5x180
5x210
5x240
5x270
5x300 (FUCK YES!)
Fuckin nailed it, after my failure last week. It took everything I had, but I got the reps. 4th rep was a bit shakey, my left side wasn't coming up, but I forced it through. Held the weight on my back for maybe 5-10 seconds before attempting the last rep, breathing and thinking to myself holy fuck I WILL NOT FAIL this last fucking rep. I think my body was in mild shock afterward for like 20 minutes, but it was worth it.
BENCH
5x145
5x170
5x195
5x220
5x245
My shoulder is pissed at me this morning, I think I'm going to hold this at 250 for a bit after this week.
BOR
5x145
5x170
5x195
5x220
5x245
These were hard but fine.
DONE.

Tuesday 3/18
Jujitsu at the hombu Dojo.
~20 minutes warmup, ~40 minutes newaza ground techniques, ~30 minutes free newaza starting from the ground.
I still get tooled, but it's getting better. I think I perform better in newaza from standing. But I'm so new that I'm just like whatever and stop analyzing, and learn from every situation.

Thursday 3/20
Jujitsu at the hombu Dojo.
~30 minutes warmup/conditioning. ~30 minutes weapon defense (gun stuff, I loved this), ~30 minutes Atemi Waza and Jujitsu techniques.
Hurt my right shoulder during the warmup. I'm landing too much on my shoulder rather than pulling it through completely during forward rolls. I hope it doesn't take forever to heal up, as it's going to effect my workouts too. Grrrr.

Friday 3/21
5x5 week 20 end.
SQUAT
Misc warmup.
180x5
210x5
240x5
270x5
305x3
240x8
Done and done, took nice rests and got all the reps.
BENCH
Misc warmup.
150x5
170x5
195x5
220x5
250x3
195x8
I was a bit nervous about these, as my shoulder is still fucked from rolling wrong in jujitsu, but I was able to bang it out w/out pain in the direct pressing motion. I actually felt it more in my opposite shoulder, which has been "injured" for a while and is mending slowly.
BOR:
Misc warmup (mostly standing GM's and back stretches)
150x5
170x5
195x5
220x5
250x4
205x8
Done.
This brings my 5x5 program to a close for now. I'm happy with it, I'm going to try and squat 315x1 this coming wednesday, which will be a personal best by FAR, and I'm confident that I'll get it. I'm switching over to a more conditioning centered routine to go along with my jujitsu training, with one day a week for heavy lifting (deads, squats, etc). We'll see how it goes. I'll likely do this for a couple/few months and see how much of my remaining flab melts off then see what happens from there.

Monday 3/24
1 minute of fast jumping jacks to get the heart moving a bit.
Misc stretching.
100 Knuckle Pushups - 9:05 <- horrid, this will improve or I'll die trying.
100 Standing Squats - 5:16 <- horrid, this will improve or I'll die trying.
20 Pull ups - 7:18 <- insanely horrid, this will improve or I'll die trying.
20 Chin ups - 7:59 <- insanely horrid, this will improve or I'll die trying.
50 Crunches - 2:01 <- bleh, this will improve or I'll die trying.
Complex:
BOR/Power Clean/Push Press w/135lbs on the bar, for 5:00. Managed x16. This will improve.
Done.
Threw these things together and figured I'd work on them for time until I come up with something better and get used to working out this way. I'll still have a heavy lifting day on Wednesdays, deads/squats/etc, probably tripples, etc. It should be interesting.

Tuesday 3/25
Jujitsu at the hombu Dojo.
~30 minutes of "warmup" hell. ~40 minutes of Jujitsu technique, mostly Ogoshi's. ~20 minutes Newaza techniques, shrimping and choke escapes.
Warmup tonight was vicious, more pushups than I've done in a while, I'm glad I changed around my M/W/F routine, this should get easier.
Took a lot of hard Ogoshi's, some nice bruising will result, but that which does not kill you makes you stronger.

Wednesday 3/26
Was supposed to be heavy lifting but I said naw and rested instead. Hadn't been getting nearly enough sleep in recent days and I figured I'd be better served letting my body rest up and getting to bed early. There's a lot to be said for this, specially at my ripe old age!
Though I did eat a bunch of dark chocolate that I had layin around, I figured hell why not jack the relaxation to the next level and indulge a bit.

Thursday 3/27
Jujitsu at the hombu Dojo.
~30 minutes warmup, calisthenics and rolling drills. ~30 minutes technique, weapon defense (gun, stick, and knife), ~30 minutes free newaza from the ground.
I went twice during newaza for 5 minutes each time, it had been a couple weeks since I had done this last, and got tooled hard, but thats where I learn most and get the most out of it so it was alright.
