Tuesday 6/10
Jujitsu at the Hombu Dojo
~30 minutes warmup and run
~30 minutes newaza drill
~30 minutes FUCKING FAIL
Warmup was a run, longer than the ones last week by about 20%, nearly died but made it due to one of the more senior students running with me and encourging me through. It was a 17 minute jog, from what I gathered. Then we stretched out and sweated our asses off in the Dojo, which was like a sauna, had to be around 110 and humid in there (heat wave up here).
Worked newaza drills with two seperate yellow belts, first guard-juji gatame, with two seperate partners, then guard-gyaku ude garami.
Then I started to work Nage Waza with one of the Sempai who attended class, got through dome double leg, but kept having to stop, I think I was overheating. Sensei had been watching me and had me stop, took me outside the dojo, and poured cold water over my wrists and head. I sat out the rest of the class. Now, for my Sensei to do this he must have been fearing for my life, because he's a hardcore guy and will really push us to get people conditioned.
It was a good thing I sat out, as I sat/stood around cooling down I was getting dizzy and such. Went home and ate a good meal (grilled center cut pork loin, 2 organic oranges, and a pile of steamed spinach) and passed the hell out.

I think I trained myself past this standard 5x5 setup, I dont fatigue or sweat much during it even though the 5th set's are hard...
I'm going to finish out this week and consider the past two weeks a de-load, and use the methodology I used the month or so before I tried for my maxes. Heavy weight high volume squat/dead + core on M/F, high volume push/pull on W, and lower volume higher weight squat/dead + core on F, this should work nicely.

Thursday 6/12
Jujutsi at the Hombu Dojo
~30 minutes running and warmup
~30 minutes Nage Waza technique
~30 minutes Jujitsu technique
Warmup consisted of run (1.8 miles) then some calisthenics, apparently this is going to build as the summer goes on, fun fun!
Worked Nage Waza with the senior most yellow belt and the senior blue belt, my Osoto Gari's are great for a white belt apparently, while my Ouichi needs a lot of work...
Then worked the Newaza chart with the yellow belt, got about half way down the chart and stopped at Guard - Elevator Pass, as my technique is horrible. But at least I can bridge pass now and knee push pass with at least passable technique.

Saturday 6/14
Just went on a ~1.5-2 mile run, not sure exact distance, down to my gym and back, took about 20 minutes. Had to stop about 1/2 way back and walk a bit, it's about 100 degrees and nasty humid this afternoon here.
Running sucks.

Tuesday 6/17
Jujitsu at the Hombu Dojo
~45 minutes warmup and calisthenics
~20 minutes newaza/nagewaza drills and technique
~25 minutes newaza/randori
Warmup was a 1.8 mile run, managed this ok this time, it still sucks but I wasn't on my last leg about to freakin die at the end... I finished ahead of the gigantic yellow belt though, but thats not surprising. Then we did some stretching and set marks for how many pushups we could do in 2 minutes (I did 60), and how many situps we could do in 2 minutes (I did 45). Interesting.
Drilled juji gatame from guard with the gigantic yellow belt, as well as guillotine from guard. The guillotines were interesting, because we're both so big that we can't sink the holds on eachother. We toyed around with it and discovered a one armed varient that works in our situation.
Randori was again harsh, as I started with the gigantic yellow belt I was working with all class. He just pounded me into the dirt over and over, I was fighting for my life, but got tapped about 4 times and ended up with a bloody lip.
Then I went with this younger kid who's the son of our sensei's girlfriend, like 18 years old and he doesn't train much during school, but holds a yellow belt and now that schools over he'll be training a bit. I tapped him once using gyaku ude garame from mune once after we struggled for a bit and I luckily escaped from his guillotine attempt (I leave myself open for this constantly, grrr), then we had a hell of a struggle for a while where I spent time trying to control him to get something on him. I almost had a kata gatame from guard but I didn't have it sunk in well enough and was gassing. Something happened to my right knee during this roll, I think it was his elbow grinding into it (he was nasty with elbows and forearms, had to control them the whole time or get mauled).

Thursday 6/19
Jujitsu at the Hombu Dojo,
~30 minutes warmup and run
~45 minutes Newaza technique
~15 minutes Nage drill
Run was longer than ever before, 2.5-3 miles, I made it about 85% of the way, maybe a little more, before having to walk briefly a few times to avoid collapsing, before finishing the run. I was proud of how far I made it, going to run this saturday morning on my own, too, as there's no class.
Worked newaza technique with the senior most yellow belt, we worked Guard - Knee Push, Guard - Elevator, Guard - Elbow Pass, Mune - Ude Garami, Mune - Gyaku Ude Garami, and Mune - Shrimp pass. Then we worked on escapes from Juji gatame, and ways to counter escapes, a couple of the most common of both. Then we drilled a series, where Uke read hugs, receives a Sukui Nage, which transitions into being in Mune, he shrimps out and transitions into guard, then gets Juji Gatame'd as he pushes off. This was a great series, and we did it over and over switching off, it reinforced the flow of things nicely.
At the end of class we did a Nage Waza throwing drill. We all lined up, the first person went down the line and performed his throw on each person in succession, mild resistance, and when he reached the end of the line the next person would go down the line, etc etc. Throws were Osoto-Gari, Ogoshi, Double-Leg takedown, a yellow belt throw that I don't remember the name of as it was my first time doing it (basically Ogoshi but instead of being around the him you're around the neck), and then a single leg takedown.
The velociraptor yellow belt hit me with an insane Ogoshi, I didn't even go over his hip I flew over his head and landed completely on my back. Fun but could have done some damage as it was totally unexpected, which should be expected because thats how he operates, hahah.
(edit: During the newaza, when explaining the juji-gatame escapes, Sensei also made a point and talk about the difference between grappling in the dojo vs the street, and showed us what you should do in juji if you find yourself there in a fight, basically smashing the assholes face with your foot, or using the inside of your leg (which is already draped over his face) to yank and crank his face back and forth which will break the jaw, nose, and possibly neck if you're strong enough. Good stuff!)
