Worth posting. I feel like such a whore posting in my own log.

Your first step now is to MAX out and get a fairly reliable idea of where your 1rm is right now. This way you can plan out your warm up sets. Also if you're benching lighter weight you'll need less warm up then someone who's doing a lot of weight and who need many warm up sets. I gave just a rough guideline but you may decide that the lightest of sets are unnecessary...if that's the case then just skip them...

Well hello Beeby.

*Gives evil, competitive look*

Good luck, douchebag.

Nah, on a serious note I'm very excited about our wilks challenge. I think you'll win, because you focus on lifting alot more than me at this point.

Yes start doing sets of singles or doubles for explosive pull ups

3-10x1-2 sounds about right. You can sub it for BOR but keep the volume moderate 5x2 or something similar or you can use explosive pull ups for few sets while you maintain the speed and when it drops off finish with some BORs. If you notice speed falling off then that's that. The point is SPEED and EXPLOSIVENESS of the sets...if the sets turn into the normal slower sets then that's already a whole different exercise. Slowly build up sets//volume....after a while you may be able to start doing more reps as well...however form usually suffers on higher rep sets...

I know what you mean about school. I used to have a similar attitude. I used to love my History and Psychology AP teachers because they cared about the students and made learning interesting...while Chem/Phys teachers had as much passion for teaching as a tree...so my attitude towards those classes reflected that...however what you need to realize that it's not about them...it's about YOU...you are in control of your learning. If you need to motivate yourself then research what you're studying and find things that interest you and read up....Dont let the teachers/professors lack of passion/lack of teaching ability affect you. Focus on getting good grades, getting through HS, and going on to get in college and succeeding.

Thanks for the info on this. As for the weighted pulls you perscribed, I took my 1rm (190 WTF BIGGER THAN MY SQUAT! haha) and 80% of that is BW+5 for me, but my 5rm is greater. Of course, by this you mean do 80% for 5x5 in DE fashion, correct?

Do you think it would benefit me more to do the fast 1-2 rep method or a standard GTG approach to be able to do more pullups?

I agree, but I take advice better than I apply it (especially in school). That's one of my more personal, specific goals.

On a good note, I found out today that I got 1700 on the PSAT, so if I do the prep I promised I would do for the SAT, I should be able to pull off something slightly higher.

I also got my schedule cleaned up, so I have 2 classes with GUARANTEED A's (Music Appreciation and Aiding for my old band teacher) 1 class with a guaranteed B (English, 2 B's I'll have to work for (Phsyics and Calc) and 1 class I'll have to really try hard in. Hooray for crutches.
