I wondered if any one was actually reading this
Monday 11th February
Started with 30 minutes of guard passing, from my back concentrated on open guard, mainly spider and from on top standing to pass.
The technique portion of the class covered a number of armbars from standing, more sitting than flying. Started from a standard collar and sleeve grip, either kicking leg up high under arm pit or putting the opposite foot on the hip and sit down to the floor, lowering under control, sort of like a single leg squat rather than just falling on your arse. Last armbar was a counter to an osoto gari, as you start to feel your self falling backwards the leg they are kicking out side knee needs to come up to your chest and pass the other leg over their head as you go to the mat.
2x5 minute rounds sparring at the end

Wednesday 14th February
BJJ class
Instructor decided not enough people are turning up to our sparring classes (which there not, especially since due to the number we aren't getting a lot of sparring at regular calsses) so swapped a normal session for sparring. Grouped is into 3's, two minute rounds and then one person swaps, so you do 4 minutes rolling and then 2 minutes rest for the full 2 hour class. Was with another couple of blues but they are older and one is quite a bit smaller so let them start each round with side control and my arms out of position and then worked from their. Pretty much managed to escape all the time so was pretty please, caught a brabo choke with the gi which I wanted to work on since I normally jsut go with the no gi version.

Friday 15th February
No Gi Class
Warmed up with a few laps of the mats, some shrimping, breakfalls and then 100 burpees.
Covered triangles from guard. Started with an overhook on one arm, either feed their opposite arm brtween your legs or bring your leg through, Then did switching to armbar if they stood up to slam you.
2x5 minute rounds sparring. Caught a gogoplatta in one round.

Saturday 16th February
1000 - Open mat
Rolled for about an hour and a half with Steve a white belt, let him work his guard passing and control and jsut worked on my escapes and open guard control with minimal hand work. Stood periodically to explain stuff to him to tighten up his technique.
1900 - Weights
Intu Flow beginner – 5 reps each exercise
Push press
54kgx3x3
Deadlift
74kgx3x3
Dumbell Row
28kgx3+3x3
OACJ – 10 minutes of technique work at the end
I only have 10kg plates so the bar for the deadlifts is barely off my shoe laces, I have been doing RDL's as this doesn't make much difference for the ROM. However since my flexability is improving and I have to deadlift the bar any way to get it up and down I have decided to jsut do normal deadlifts. back started to round slightly a few times, just need to go slowly for a few weeks while I keep working the flexibilty.

Wednesday 20th February
Had a cold and feeling a bit run down so had a few days of rest, back to training tonight though.
BJJ class
We worked through 2 minute rounds of the major positions, guard, mount, side control, back mount, alternating one round on top and one round on the bottom. Had an odd number at the class so one group was a three so we did 3 rounds for each position, worked with Aldo. Rare chance to roll with some one my own size, Aldo was a pretty good white belt, technically is probably at a blue belt level, but hasn’t trained much since I moved to the club, apparently he has mentioned before that he doesn’t train much now because he doesn’t want to be promoted so can keep winning white belt comps. Hyper competitive and has the habit of injuring people by going balls out all the time, I actually quite enjoy training with him as I say it’s a rare chance to roll with some one my own size and probably quite a bit stronger than me. Managed to escape at least once every time I was on the bottom, pretty pleasing as this is one of the areas I some times wonder about how my technique is developing because of my size advantage.
We drilled some techniques from mount, all starting with basic hand in the collar and sliding round to your knee behind the head as they attempt to bump you off. Covered two techniques with your own Gi, passing the bottom corner of your lapel either round the bottom of their head and bringing the forearm back round and over their head or passing the lapel over and looping the arm under. Then we did a basic armbar, leaning towards their legs and passing your leg over their head.
Rolled one 5 minute round with Aldo and one 10 minute round with Paul a new white belt.

Thursday 21st
Open mat
Rolled for about 15 mintues witha whiet belt and then an hour and 15 with Dan. When passing I worked from my feet as Dan is quite good with the De La Riva guard and wanted to work on passing it. Found that when I removed the De la Riva hook and worked for a margarida pass he would switch to sitting guard, need more work on this. If I was passing half guard I tried to to pass differently to normal, sitting over Dan so I was facing upwards, found I was getting swept in transition quite a bit, must have been getting some thing fundimentally wrong so need to speak to my instructor. Over all caught a couple of RNC's and didn't get caught myself.

Friday 22nd
MMA Class
Started with tabata squats, push ups, sit ups and burpees
Covered GNP from guard, slowly adding in different tools for the guy on top and bottom. A bit of free sparring at the end. Had really bad cramp right towards the end and am limping about a bit, tried to stretch it off as much as possible.
