Competed at the weekend for the first time at a proper competition as a purple belt, no one else registered for my weight class so had to make to with trying to squash little people in the absolute.

Fairly typical poor first match from me, should ahve sent for the Hari Goshi I have bene working on at the start of the match rather than a piss poor sumi gaeshi.

Should have finished the clock choke.

Only match I feel I did fairly well in, should have finished the bread cutter choke from side control.

Fairly happy with Gold, got quite a few things to work on over the coming months though

Wednesday 4th March

Came early and did some wrestling work with a white belt that is competing for the first time in a no gi comp this weekend, rolled some no gi with him as well - rest of session was Gi.

Class started with 30 minutes guard apssing, winner stays on. For the technique portion of the class we covered basic guard opening, double unders pass or flipping them to turtle if they defend by making their legs heavy.

Free rolled for about 20 minutes at the end.

Friday 10th April.

MMA class

Started with 20 mintues of no gi rolling, two people in the middle with fights coming up, fresh partner each minute.

Put on boxing gloves and did takedowns with strikes. First time striking in ages so felt a little strange, double leg of a jab/left hook was working well which was pleasing. Double legs don't work for me that well in straight grappling as I struggle to get my level low enough if my partner takes a more bent over stance. Need to work my job more and use my height advantage and need to remember to check leg kicks instead of just taking them on the thigh!
