Bizarro's Lifting Log

I decided to start a log and see how it goes. I have been lifting for a bit over 1.5 years and throughout that period I had many times where I kept on missing workouts and did not stay as consistent with my lifts as I wanted to. I hope this log helps keep me motivated to actually start lifting some weights and make gains. Another note: I suffered a slight back injury and have not done squats or deadlifts for about three months now. I am pretty sure it was due to squat form, but one time after a deadlift workout something happened and my back started hurting. That is when I decided that I should take a break until it heals up. Right now, I can still feel a little something, but I don't think it's anything serious and it feels fine to me, I just hope squats won't affect it. So this whole thing is kind of like a new start for me. Anyways..

Stats:
height: 5'9
weight: 160 lbs last time I checked..

Goals:
Overall I would just like to get stronger and maybe improve conditioning a bit since mines is horrible. More specifically, my goals (for now) are to: squat 3 plates, overhead squat bodyweightX10, and strict press my bodyweight.

today's workout:

Strict OHP
125X6
10Xreps (125) I just tried to get 10 reps, whether singles, doubles, or triples as fast as I could with 125
3X6 (105)

Overhead squats
65X10
75X8
45X10

I am never doing these again after heavy overheads. My shoulders felt dead and I could not do anything with this exercise

Pullups
4X8

Standing tricep extensions
3X10 (55)

after this did some grip work

Plate pinching
Passes from hand to hand
Singles
Two hand pinches (did these with just my ring and pinkie fingers, did 35's for timed holds and then added 10 lbs for a singe lift)
Plate rim lifts - did these until my fingers could not move anymore, lol. Also lifted it by the thumb

I felt tired and out of breath after my main workout, so was undecided whether I should do these or not, but glad I did because I got a new PR - lifted 67.5 lbs THis is a 5 lb Pr and I am hoping to pinch a pair of 35's. Over the past few sessions, rather then just doing a bunch of heavy singles, I mixed it up with timed holds, passes from hand to hand, and some half-assed attempts at rowing and shrugging the plates.

I was planning on lifting on Sunday, rather than today, but rather than just skipping it decided to just get through with it, even though I am doing rows and deadlifts tomorrow.

Body felt sore today. Back is feeling good although felt some weird thing during part of the day, probably nothing though and I will continue lifting.

Deadlifts
3X5 (255)

These felt good and my back seemed like it was nice and straight

BB Bent Over Rows
135X8
2X5 (185)
135X10

The first set with 185 felt good, torso was parallel and back was for the most part straight, and elbows tucked in, second set was a bit too sloppy and rounded back

Romanian deads
2X6 (185)

was planning to do more here, but did not feel it in my hams, probably since my body was so exhausted, as well as my back

Shrugs

Weighted Ab situps
4X8 (25)

Whenever I do these I do them with weight behind my neck. This time I did it with my legs straight and feet unsupported

Yesterday's Workout:

Dumbell bench presses
2X7 (55)
75X8
3X8 (65)

Seated db presses
4X7 (45) These felt difficult, probably because I pushed myself so hard on db presses

Tate presses
3X6 (30)

Face pulls

tricep extension w/rope attatchment

Russian twists
25
35
35 lb

For today's grip stuff I did 2.5 thickbar (timed holds, reps, singles), wrist roller (3X overhand, 3X underhand), and narrow pinch

4X1 (235)

Narrow stance GM's
95X8
115X8
2X8 (135)

Was hoping to get 130 7x, oh well, still 5 lbs up from last week. Although this time my body was feeling shaky through it all, maybe due to yesterday's workout? Im not sure.

Pullups
4X10

standing tricep extensions
65X8
70X8

Deadlifts
3X5 (275)

BB Rows
135
190X5
190X7
145X8

The 190X7 was kinda pretty good form, but it felt awesome and I was happy with this. BB Rows are my new favorite exercise!

RDL's
135
2X6 (205)

Im still not sure about these and the way they are feeling. Maybe it would be best to drop the weight a bit..

Shrugs

Weighted Ab situps

Yesterday I did plate pinches and plate rim holds, switching fingers back and forth while still holding on to the plate.

Box squats
185X2
4X2 (225)

Narrow stance GM's
135
2X8 (150)

Short workout obviously, I rushed the stuff a bit too but I only had half an hour to do whatever before the gym closed.

Yesterday's grip stuff I did wrist roller (5X overhand, 3X underhand) and a bunch of narrow pinches.

Thx, finally a comment on my log! Try using a bit of leg drive on your rows and that will help.
