That said, it's certainly your decision. You know, though, that there will be plenty of Plat+ comps next year, too, while there may not be another Sherdog get-together comp. You'll get your card, be it in November or early 2009.

Not that it means anything, but Brian Walsh entered my comp and said that there was no point in him considering Kentucky because Chad Coy is going to win.
I know I'd have more fun, and I'm always down for helping charities. I also know that there will be pro chances next year, but one of this years' goals was to get my card.

I'm not sure what the Chad Coy comment means. And I thought he was HW? He is that good? I haven't really seen any numbers from him. There's a 330 axle clean and press on youtube, but he certainly isn't a 231'er there. Can you clarify?

At this point, if I can afford to do either, I'm leaning on doing yours.

Chad is dropping to lightweight for that contest. I don't know much about him, but apparently, Brian thinks that he is freaky enough that no one else stands a chance. Don't know... I've never seen him compete and it's hard to say what the weight drop will do to him.

Anyhow, I do hope you do mine if it's affordable, but obviously, you have to make the right decision for yourself.

Keep in mind that Chad Coy has been to WSM and I think was a back up for it for a while. He is a freak and his training is ridiculous.

Thanks TD - I think rather than be intimidated, I'd relish the challenge. Unknowns are always a little, well, unknown. But I know what I'm capable of.

Greg - Do you have a link to his training? That would make it LESS unknown. I looked around but didn't find one.

Kurt - I'll tell you this: if I do one, it will be yours. You have my word on that.

Thursday 9/18/08

Last nights "workout"

Squats
Bar*10
Bar*10
135*8
225*5
315*3
335*5

Absolutely nothing felt right. Lower back was twingy, legs were shaky, and worst of all knees felt very vulnerable. Looks like they're not as healed as I thought. I bailed after this, I had NO intention of making things worse.

Bench
Bar*10
135*6
225*5
250*5
300*4

Same mess. No energy, shaky shoulders, didn't feel "put together" at all. I bailed.

I haven't actually "quit" a workout in 5, maybe 6 years. Weight was down to 224 even though I've been eating better.

I've got to figure this out. I think I know part of the reason for the bad workout, but I'm not sure about the weight loss. A good athlete knows not to make too much out of a bad week of training - I'm going to ride it out, eat more, try to get a few more massages, and keep lifting.

Don't sweat it. The way your training has been going the last few months, you were do for a little forced recovery. You did the right thing by walking away.
