You should really let someone know about this, since it's 9 inches better than the world record and a full 26 inches better than Vince Carter can do.

So last night I went to see the new Hulk and I was all fired up afterwards, right? As we were leaving the theater there was a sign hanging up really high. I turned to Whitney and asked her if she thought I could jump and touch it. Given that she knows what I'm capable of and believes in me I was shocked to hear her say no. So shocked I had to double check, actually.

So I had to go for it, but I missed it the first time. She was still proud of me of course, "Good job baby! (haha) That was so close!"

I got angry that I missed it and went for it again, with more effort. I got it with about 2 inches to spare, and I was super excited. The last time I'd measured my vertical it was 39". And I know I can touch the rim from a standstill. Still, this was fucking HIGH, and I'm a little surprised I got it.

Here's a picture of me beneath it. I have a hard time judging how far away from me it is. Anyone have any guesses? I'd say at least 10.5 feet.

And yes, this was from a stand-still, ie - a vertical jump test, not a running start.

Compared to 69" a 39" vert is kinda lack luster, how tall are you anyways?

6-26-08 Thursday

Had a good night tonight at the gym, first workout in 5 days.

Bottom-position bench presses. These are done in the rack from a dead stop, and are quite hard to do. Essentially worse than a paused bench because you go from no muscles firing to pushing max weight. Additionally it's somewhat of a guessing game with the set-up, to an extent, because you're unable to "lower it into position," so finding the right groove is significantly harder.

Bar*15
135*10/12
225*8
315*5
405*2
455*1 - Sloppy, but ties PR. I felt drained and week from a week of having tons of sex and not lifting. What? You're reading it.

Hang cleans
Bar*5
95*5
135*5
185*3
225*3
275*2 - +1 rep PR
295*1 - 20 lb. PR
305*1 - 30 lb PR (obviously)

I seem to be getting better at all-things-oly. I was extremely pleased to hit a 10% PR on hang cleans. Actually, this matches that 305 power clean I did the other night. I guess it's time to crack-a-lackin' in power cleans.

Bench lock-outs - again in the power rack (can you tell I didn't have a spotter tonight?) Roughly 3-4 inches ROM.

135*5
315*7
495*5
585*3
635*2

These were tough tonight, although granted I've never done them after a primary bench exercise, always as THE primary on a given day. The most I've hit was 700, I'll have to work up to that again. Hmm.
