I hate you all. And for the record, we do not use stability balls, bosu balls, and very rarely use bands.

Lots of olympic lifts, atg squats, flexibility and soft tissue manipulation, structural integrity work, etc.

Ess my dee.

sounds like a great job and awesome gym.

how did you go about getting into the business? do you mostly run the gym or do you train clients as well?

Actually I work out of a gym called Snap Fitness, which is quickly taking over where the big globogyms are leaving off. It's small, clean, 24 hours a day via magnetic keycard, and pretty inexpensive. The only down side is the lack of oly equipment.

So obviously I don't own the gym, although in about 6 months I hope to have enough to buy half in on one that's opening near by. So I only train clients, but right now it seems like my full time job is just to GET clients. I recently quit my position as the district fitness director for Gold's gym up here in Oregon to do this, so I don't have many clients yet. This is the scary, make-or-break time.

Oh I see. Sounds like you quit a pretty good job. Did you want a more hands on job training people?

good luck getting your business off the ground; if anyone could do it, it's you.

Hey thanks, that's really nice. It's a lot of busy work, phone calls and flyers but in the end, if I can sell $10,000 in training a month and have $500 rent to the gym, I take home $9,500 that month... It's worth it in the end, I think.

Bench

I haven't done bench in about 2.5 months and can tell I've lost some strength. More than that, though, I've lost a bit of the groove. That's waaay more important for big numbers, and I've got some work to do to get it back.

Bar x 12
135 x 8
225 x 6
315 x 3
365 x 2
405 x 1
455 x 1 bad, missed the groove. Wasn't natural at all.
455 x 0 better, speed off the chest was faaast, but half way up I threw it back into the uprights
365 x x 6 Waay better, found my groove for all but the last rep when my shoulders lost it retraction and elbows started flaring.

Decline negatives
225 x 6
315 x 5
365 x 3
365 x 3

Seated alt. arm db front raises
60 x 5
70's x 5
70's x 5
70's x 6

Rack lockouts
225 x 8
315 x 8
405 x 8
405 x 8

How were you doing these as negatives? Was a buddy Rowing the weight off you each rep? That'd be a hell of a workout. lol, that's my DL session right there.

Joking about the curls. Less than half the posters here do them and even less than that admit to it.

No, that's a good question. Better than you realize, actually, because the bench we have to use is at too steep an angle and so it make it even more awkward to spot on the negative.

Luckily the 365 isn't more than we could do for a few reps fresh, so it doesn't take a TON of work to help bring it up. It's more about lowering it pretty slowly and finding the right groove with the weight.
