How about setting small, semi-realistic goals in steps leading up to your main goals, take UFC for an example
1. get formal training
2. fight small amateur shows and win
3. after a respectable ammy record is built, train even harder and turn pro
4. win a few pro fights and try and look for a medium feeder org (KOTC, TKO etc)
5. keep winning and wait for dana to call

They'd HAVE to give you a shot then.

probability/pot odds is the most simplistic shit that is learned by any decent player and is automatic...it takes a lot more to become successful. You need to study game theory, deep probability reading, psychology, money management, learning tells, learning to counter other people's tell reading....sure u can play limit holdem and become a decent mechanical player but if u try any of that shit in No limit you'd get destroyed....same thing goes for other games like stud, omaha, HORSE, HOSE, razz, etc....best money to be made is probably in wild omaha hi/lo games(because people are truly horrible at them) as well as at games like NL razz or other such games...even mediocre players have decent grasp of limit holdem and some clue about NL but other games are much more wide open...

set small realistic goals...otherwise you're setting yourself to fail...also think long and hard about what you want to do most...because chances are you'll only be able to do 1 of them seriously and perhaps a couple others as a side hobby...

these guys give you a hard time for a reason ....because they got a more broad life perspective that you do at 17....you sound like you're fairly mature person but some things you'll only realize with age...as we all do...and continue to do.....

My money management sucked ...a lesson learned late...also my emotional control(playing idiots is a two sided coin) could have been a lot better...game selection, limits, etc are all huge factors...

I think i finished about even over 3-4 years but I could have been up many thousands if I had good money management. My mistake was playing 1000nl without sufficient bankroll and getting reemed....lesson learned...lol...should have stuck to multitabling several 200nl tables...

rounders was an awesome movie that got me introduced to the game....

Yeah, I'll really begin to prioritize a ways into college. Realistically, I probably will end up being an anesthesiologist, but I plan on competing in martial arts regardless of what my main focus ends up being, even if it is only at amateur level.

Honestly, I realize that I come off as a stereotypical thinks-he-knows-everything extraordinarily vain smartass teen. Probably because I really am pretty much like that, and society says it's acceptable, so why not just wait to grow out of it like everyone else (on this forum) did. Unless of course some of you went straight from childhood to adulthood. Then you wouldn't really understand what I'm talking about.

Gonna go play some basketball, back later.

And I think i solved my weight training dilemma. I'm gonna make a sandbag using the 25 lbs leaf-bag method, and do oly lifts with it (making it heavier) and then still do endurance/cardio stuff with it (making it lighter).

I haven't played recently, but we pretty much always played 20 dollar cash games or sit-n-go's. Of all the cash games, I only lost my buy in once. One time I came up 114 (to 134). Good night. And I consistently won more sit-n-go's than any other person.

Don't know why they keep inviting me, lol.

Anyways, basketball. Late.
