Thank you.

A naturally strong core has forced me to either become more "technical" in my lifting or just keep upping the weight until something snaps . I can handle so much more weight if I just cut loose, but I know I can only cheat injury for so long. This is true primarily for my squats, but also my Olympic lifts, to a lesser degree.

So, I'm probably going to be in this sort of "corrective" mode for at least a couple more months.

Today
Nice workout.

(Note: My 500m C2 warm up today was pretty fast, almost broke 1:40, which is pretty good for warm-up pace.)

Bench, EDT Method
135x3
185x1
195 doubles x14

Notes: Cool, I got all 14 sets of 195x2 (with 1:00 rest periods) as prescribed by the program. There were a few grinding reps in there, but overall it wasn't that bad. I'm going to freaking shatter my bench plateau. For real this time.

Close Grip BP
135x11

One Arm Dumbbell BORs
65x8
80x6
100x6
100x6
100x8
Meh...100 is too light for these, and that's the biggest dumbbell they have here. Oh well.

Power Cleans-Nothing crazy, just keeping form sharp.
135x3
155x3
175x3
185x3
195x2
205x1
215x1

Quick set of 15 pull ups.

Curls

Some finisher stuff on machines.

Awesome lifting. I've always thought the EDT protocal was pretty slick, I'll be curious to see it applied to maximal strength training.

I had seen the article a long time ago, but never really purused it. I will check it out at work tommorrow, I get most of my training thinking done then

Mike Truchscherer outlines a way you can use time to manage training sessions that is similar.

Today
GPP day.

Deadlift Challenge: Max BW Deadlifts in 4:00
Basically my practice run, I'll go all-out on this later this week. Just had to figure stuff out, like when to change my grip, when to rest, if at all, etc.

Overhead Squats
Worked up to an 80lb double and and 85lb double, both of which are PR weights. I know these are really light right now, but this is only my 3rd OHS workout and a month ago I wasn't even flexible enough (in the shoulders) to do them, so I'm thrilled. The weight will come quickly, I think, now that I'm flexible enough to do them.

Front Squats
135x25. That was quite a set.

Back at the dorm, Turkish Get-ups with my kettlebell (24kg).

Today
Rest, except for a judo class.

Judo went alright, training wise, but I miss my old schools, and the people there. Everyone I trained with before was so modest, willing to learn, no egos. I don't really feel that same atmosphere here. Also, a bunch of them seem slightly hostile to me because of my jiu-jitsu background. I hope that passes as they get to know me.
