Today
Felt very powerful today. Could have hit some bigger weights, but I wanted to take it "sort of" easy today after squatting heavy so many weeks in a row. Plus, I'm going to need leg strength for my "the gym's closed on Memorial Day workout" tomorrow. Won't back squat at all next Sunday.

Squats-Everything felt great, except I'm still using too much back. Great depth today, too.
135xMany (technique work)
185xMany (technique work)
225x3
(+belt)
265x2
285x1
305x1
320x1 5lb PR
295x2
300x1
300x1
300x1
275x3
(Belt off)
Misc. stuff I don't remember. Kept the volume pretty low. I do remember I did a really long set at 135 with lots of pauses, just working on technique and flexibility.

.5 mile in 2:30.

5:00 on bike, easy pace.

OHS stretching/thoratic mobility.

Today
Gym closed for Memorial Day. If any veterans happen to be reading this, thank you for your service.

Anyway, I wanted to go overhead today, but since my basement ceiling is low, that meant going outside.

Hauling 200lbs of weights up the stairs and outsidex1

Clean and Push-Press
135x1+1 Strict Press
155x1
170x1
185x1
190x1>>PR for a clean and push press, though my clean PR is 225 and push press is 195 (when done independently).
195x1
200xClean only, pushed the bar forward
200xClean only, didn't even attempt the press.

Clean and Strict Press: 135x3

Back to Clean and Push Press
155x2 (one clean)
170x1-Muscled it.
185x1

Clean and Strict Press
135x3 (One clean)
135x1+Pressouts

Hauling weights insidex1

Long Stone Carries

Brief but intense gymnastic-type core work (all kinds on interesting twists on dragon flags, etc.).

A few thoughts: I was actually pretty pleased with the clean and pressing. If I could get 195 under those conditions, getting 200 off a rack in the gym should be no problem now. The strict presses I mixed in there felt GREAT after a week off from pressing, especially considering I'm not used to pressing with that bar and grip placement always makes such a big difference for me on presses.

My thinking is....if i can hit a bigger weight...i attempt it....you never know what the next workout promises you....however worst case you can take extra couple days off for additional recovery if you slightly overtrain...(that is not to say go beyond your capabilities and risk injury but just that on a good day when you're feeling very strong....go to your potential)...unless ofcourse you're following some very structured program...

congrats on the squat and C/P PRs...

QMGPP: Pull Ups

Also, for some reason, I did a bunch of clap push ups yesterday. Maybe because I didn't bench Monday, but I just felt like I needed to do them. Probably stupid. Just logging it to see if it affects my recovery: A few sets between 20-30 reps.

Congratulations on the rep PR. And what is QMGPP, I see you advocate this but never knew what it was exactly.

That's some serious chinning! Squats are looking good, too.
