General Notes: my back finally felt good enough to get back in the gym. The tingling in my leg was gone and I'm doing good. Today was the first day on the WS4SB program and I have to say it's kind of an asskicker. It's obviously different than the 5x5 but considering I'm such a noob I'm thinking it'll be better for me. Later when I'm more flexible and I don't totally suck at squatting I can do the 5x5. On the assistance stuff I'm thinking next time I'll do less reps for more weight but this time I just wanted to feel the exercises out since I've never done them before.

ME Upper Body

Bench Press
---------------
Notes: WS4SB says to work up to a maximum set of 3-5 reps. Since I was dying to give my upper body some work I decided to do a 3 rep max for the first time in my life. I was pumped. I still started out slow but I eventually benched a personal record .
65x8
115x5
135x5
155x5
175x3 --> 3 rep PR

Dumbbell Bench Press
---------------------------
20's x 10
25's x 10
35's x 10
45's x 6

Dumbbell Bent Over Row
------------------
25 each side x 10
35 each side x 12
45 each side x 10
50 each side x 10

Seated Dumbbell "Power Cleans"
-----------------------------------------
Notes: these were a lot harder than I thought they would be. I should have started with less weight and that's definitely why I couldn't finish the second set. My form also really sucked on the second set.
15's x 12
20's x 9

Russian Twists
-----------------
Notes: These are going to take some practice. In the later sets and on the later reps my form was lacking and I was feeling it in my legs more than my core but that's what practice is for, right?
10 x 15 each side
12 x 13 each side
15 x 10 each side

*** Wife's Entry ***

General Notes: my wife came in with me too today and here's the entry for her second trip to free weight section of the gym. Since this was her second trip I'm still getting a feeling for what she can and can't do. I'm leaning towards the WS4SB program for her too but that might be a little too intense. I don't know yet. It's still a feeling out process.

Pull-Ups
----------
Notes: I helped her on these by lifting her by her leg. I was really proud of her. I could see her working hard so I'm thinking we should keep doing these.
5 reps
5 reps
4 reps
5 reps
5 reps

Dumbbell Standing Overhead Press
--------------------------------------------
10's x 8
12's x 8
15's x 5
17's x 5
20's x 5

Dumbbell Step-Up
-----------------------
Notes: She really had to work on these. She was complaining and I was laughing. She did them though.
25x5 each leg
40x5 each leg --> too big of a jump in weight
30x5 each leg

Russian Twists
-----------------
Notes: I don't know about this exercise. The form slips so fast for both her and me.
5 x 8 each side
8 x 8 each side
10 x 6 each side

Hence the reason I almost shit my pants last month when my girlfriend was a month late.

Yeah, that stress will take a few years off your life.

Almost 4 years, but I have no kids, I'm only 21. If I had a kid right now I'd be screwed. Housing prices here are so expensive that I'd be raising the little bastard in my mom's house haha.

I know what you mean about being screwed. When I was 21 I had a few scares. If I had a kid I might as well have given the kid up for adoption for all the good I would have done him/her.

LOL I told my girl the same thing, that's basically what we would have to do.

Good lifting, man. It's awesome that your wife is getting into it as well.

WS4SB is a good program...you'll like it a lot.
