JSN: As a huge Genesis fan, you're my new favorite poster.
The Musical Box is my second favorite song behind their masterpiece Supper's Ready, which IMO is the greatest song ever.
For The Musical Box in particular, I think their best performance (at least the best performance there's footage of) is from their 1973 performance at Shepperton Studios.
The best version of all, though, is the one on Live.
Can't go wrong with Genesis, IMO. The entire Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is great, as is Selling England by the Pound.

sticking with the lesser known theme (but still mainstream enough to induce nostalgia for most), you have to heart "spacee lord" by monster magnet

I saw them at OBC4 in Vegas ages ago, the event was headlined by a ton of very popular bands, at the time, Papa Roach, Blink182, Powerman 5000, etc. But Monster magnet stole the whole thing, they fucking rocked like no other band there. Except possibly RunDMC.

noice, looks like we have different tastes in film, but similar in music. are you a kind crimson fan? i'm a reformed proghead, but that early stuff like the late 60's/early 70's genesis/yes/crimson i still love. i think crimson's first album has to be the one i've listened to the most times- hundreds.

I'm not a big music fan, but I'm a HUGE Genesis fan. I've listened to other Progressive stuff just because I love the Gabriel-era Genesis so much, but comparing Genesis to Yes, King Crimson, and even Pink Floyd, for me, there just is no comparison. It's not even close.
Anyone who's read my posts about movies and MMA can probably tell that I sort of have obsessive-compulsive tendencies, so since I like Genesis. . .I REALLY LIKE GENESIS.
If Genesis is the topic of conversation, I can talk a person's ear off, but don't mistake in-depth knowledge about Genesis for in-depth knowledge of music. Past Genesis and a little with The Who and I'm a giant ignoramus
