I'm not a big music fan, but I'm a HUGE Genesis fan. I've listened to other Progressive stuff just because I love the Gabriel-era Genesis so much, but comparing Genesis to Yes, King Crimson, and even Pink Floyd, for me, there just is no comparison. It's not even close.
Anyone who's read my posts about movies and MMA can probably tell that I sort of have obsessive-compulsive tendencies, so since I like Genesis. . .I REALLY LIKE GENESIS.
If Genesis is the topic of conversation, I can talk a person's ear off, but don't mistake in-depth knowledge about Genesis for in-depth knowledge of music. Past Genesis and a little with The Who and I'm a giant ignoramus
you should really get that first crimson album. it's the best rock album ever IMO. it's totally listenable, very complex, tons of contrast, meh the same things i like about genesis- crazy but restrained.

6 underground, by the sneaker pimps
it does everything for me.
that song is tight as fuck. i actually bought that album off ebay a few years ago. if you're into trip hop, you need to hear that first portishead album. amazing shit.
check out this song with tricky and pj harvey. i wuvz it. quite slow compared to "6 underground," but that same basic trip hop aesthetic.
