Just a few months ago, I had a bet with this girl I'd recently met here in town. I was over at her place and we watched an episode of The Office on tv, it was the Booze Cruise one.

She said that the girl Jim is dating in it(Rachael Adams) was the same crazy girl that Vince Vaughn gets mixed up with in Wedding Crashers(Isla Fisher). I told her no way, definitely different chicks. She was so sure and kept going on and on, so I said "We'll look it up online right now, and if you're right I'll cook you dinner, and if I'm right I get a BJ." No shit. And she was so sure that she was right that she took the bet and kept going on and on about the chicken parmesan I would be making for her soon.

I used to really believe in alien abductions and all that paranormal shit. I'd read 2-3 books a week on the subjects in high school and swear it was as real as anything else in the world.

I kept these beliefs on the backburner for a few years until I read Richard Dawkins "The God Delusion" and was introduced to Atheism, that changed the way I looked at evidence and facts over "feelings" and hearsay. I became a defacto-atheist and stopped believing in alien abductions, loch ness monster,ghosts and all sorts of paranormal stuff which simply did not have sufficient evidence when examined in a scientific and rational manner.

I was never so wrong about anything in my life but it was also a liberating experience. I keep an open mind but it's a rational and skeptical mind now.
