maybe its just me but gears of war didnt live up to the hype. its definately a solid game but the controls are very sloppy. sometimes when i try to duck the man wont do it. he may roll to the side, climb over the object im trying to duck behind, etc... when he does the wrong thing, it means instant death. skill has ZERO factor in this. sloppy controls get you killed more then anything.

the A button does too many things in gears of war and alot of times it wont do what you want it to do.

the grenades are lame! they look like a mace with spikes on the end of it. instead of throwing them quick like traditional grenades, you have to swing the grenades in gears of war by a chain like 4 or 5 times before you throw it. its very time consuming and its an instant death in intense fire fights. grenades so far are useless in gears of war IMO. i mean these guys are soldiers in the future yet they take a step back in technology with the lame grenades. what gives?

hammer of dawn is by far the coolest weapon of all time IMO. they could have made it look more devastating though. its a cool weapon but the laser that shoots from the satalite looks kinda weak and plain.

sniper rifle is awesome but the reloading sucks. reload after one shot? what is that?

shotgun is badass, machine gun with the equiped chainsaw is still my favorite weapon in the game so far. it gets the most use from me.

monsters are pretty repetitive. all look the same IMO. they take fucking 20 shots with the machine gun to kill. ive walked up and unloaded a clip in one of those fuckers faces and he lived to kill me! the big monsters suckeven worse. shot the fucker 5 times clean with the sniper rifle in the face yet he lived!

i give this game a solid B. im pretty far in the mine levels.

oh and the battle with the berzerker boss was badass! i hammer of dawned him into a living death!

when you get swarmed by the suicide bombers, get out in the open. dont run into a small cramped room because you will die. your man doesnt spin fast enough to keep sited on the little bastards running around you. they could have used a fast spin technique like in resident evil 4. shotgun is a must in this situation.

i havent found all the guns or cogs yet. dont know what the cogs do. ive found 5 or 6. im hoping there is a badass chaingun is gears of war. if not, this game may drop another grade in my opinion.

gears of war = doom 3 + resident evil 4 for with alittle tactical techniques added.

AI is dumb as fuck! quite often im shooting a monster and my man will run out in the middle of my bullets blocking my shot at the monster. its annoying as hell!

also in the level where you get killed by the kryll (killer bat like things) that swarm you when you step out of the light, your team mate will often run into the darkness and get killed. even where we are going to point A to point B. no shoot outs, nothing but walking yet the fucker runs straight towards the dark to get killed. fucking idiot.

the A button does pretty much everything and it doesnt always do what you want it to. that is a fact. if you know how to work the shit every single time you are a bold faced fucking lier plain and simple. ive read reviews where they talked about the A button having too many commands.

A button runs, jumps over objects, climbs out of windows, ducks for cover, rolls to the left or right.

sometimes when i want to duck, my man will roll, when i want to roll, he'll duck, when i want to duck, he jumps over the barracade.

if you havent experienced this problem then you are a lier and i doubt you even played the game because they talk about it in IGN and its their biggest gripe about the game. it happens to be my biggest gripe as well because im used to smoother controls.

battlefield 2 will remain my most played game after i beat gears of war. i only played it for a few hours and i have a feeling im close to beating it already..

oh and when you are killing monsters, the blood looks so fake. like cartoon blood. everything looks so real then you see the blood....

if head shots are supposed to do more damage i cant tell because i always go for the head shot and ive hit mother fuckers in the head over 10 times yet they still live.

ive unloaded clips square in the face at point blank range.

i've beat the game on hardcore and now i'm half way through insane. you're an idiot, you just suck at games.

the A button is fine, you hold it down to run, you tap it twice and a direction to roll. when you're pressed against a wall you press the directional button down to crouch. if you or anyone else are having problems with this you should just sell all your gaming gear because you're obviously too inept to play video games.

go play parcheesi or something simple like connect 4. noob.

i have yet to play it but it looks sick as fuck and my boy who owns it was talking about how hard it is online. at least when youre playing against people who are good and dont suck at games like the threadstarter.
