WWE's description of MMA
I'll admit it, I watch professional wrestling when the stars align and I don't have papers to write during Raw or ECW. I checked the WWE website today and their next PPV is called Cyber Sunday, where fans can vote for a certain variable in each match, whether the stipulations or the challenger to a champion. One match is between Matt Hardy and MVP, and the fans are able to choose between matches involving standard pro wrestling, boxing, and "MMA". For a while now they've tried to incorporate martial arts and MMA terminology, saying a fighter is a striker (particularly the Undertaker) or that large and strong opponents like to ground-and-pound. Their ECW Champion, CM Punk, is credited with a Muay Thai and JJ background. Anyways, here is the description the website uses to describe what an MMA match entails, for their fans who may be uneducated:
Using your vote to see Matt Hardy and MVP compete in a Mixed Martial Arts Match is also an option, and perhaps the most intriguing one. Neither has any known experience in this type of contest, and the uncontrolled atmosphere of an MMA fight could lead to a dangerous conflict between the young North Carolinian and the Ballin’ Superstar at Cyber Sunday. In the world of MMA, the offense is unique in that there are no clearly defined rules, so anything goes. A winner is declared when his opponent is knocked out, injured or submits. Are Matt Hardy and MVP willing to put their bodies on the line in a MMA Match to one-up each other?
With all the persistent rumors of the owners of WWE getting into MMA, isn't this a bit asinine and insulting? This also just enforces the wrong impression to the viewers that MMA is just "cage fighting" with no rules and no honor.
Opinions?

I think it's a pot shot at mma cause if I remember correctly Vince McMahon and the UFC don't get along too well. MMA is directed at the same audience. 18-34 year old males.
I remember specifically that when UFC and WWE were on Spike, Vince got all mad because the commercials said something like "What's real? Not boxing, not professional wrestling..." And WWE was on right before the UFC. Now WWE isn't on spike anymore.
So what I think it boils down to is a pot shot at the UFC.

I've learned to appreciate both respectively although I like MMA better of course. The guy in my av is one of the reasons I like pro-wrestling. Scott Steiner, Christian Cage, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, McMahons and everyone who plays a heel and who can talk well is why I watch. I find them and the storylines funny that at times I tear up laughing.

Vince McMahon's idea of MMA is probably wrestling vs BJJ vs Karate vs Sumo.

No, UFC and WWE are competing for the exact same demographic.
