Rockstar Games: Bully

http://www.rockstargames.com/bully/ ---

http://today.reuters.com/news/articl...src=rss&rpc=22

Rockstar, the maker of best-selling video game series "Grant Theft Auto" said on Wednesday it would launch in October "Bully", a game with themes of school fighting that has anti-violence critics up in arms.

Quote:
The game's main character is 15-year-old Jimmy Hopkins, who must defend himself against school bullies at a fictional U.S. boarding school called Bullworth Academy, while dealing with characters ranging from nerds and jocks to authoritarian prefects.

Weapons included baseball bats that break after several blows, stink bombs and bags of marbles that when strategically thrown will lay flat most pursuers.

"Finally 'Bully' can speak for itself. People can look at the game and see what it is and what it's not," company spokesman Rodney Walker said.

In March, Florida's Miami-Dade County School Board called on retailers not to sell the game to minors and required the school district to warn parents about potentially harmful effects of playing violent video games.

Sounds bad ass, given rockstars track record I'll check it out.

Yeah, it looks like a badass game. I was never fond of GTA games but Bully certainly looks interesting. It's definitely a new approach at a game.

It's interesting.... Rockstar's success with GTA has really allowed them to do kind of goofy experimental games (like Bully and Ping Pong), and get the benefit of the doubt from gamers. Most companies would never have the balls to release a full priced ping-pong game or a game like Bully... Rockstar has enough of a fanbase now that they can get away with it. Hopefully the game will be good and they'll be able to keep on doing these kind of quirky games and making money.

Ping pong was fun, but I didn't buy it.

I'm just glad someone is making games that aren't FPS or military squad games. Both formats are fun, but do we really need another ghost recon?

This will get panned by dumb ass critics, just like GTA did. Truth is, these games are good for society because they show how worthless most parents are these days.

Send a message via AIM to norcal313
Now all the fat, nerdy kids can go home from a day of school filled with ridiculing and teasing, and live out their fantasies of being the bully.

Wow, this is just now being released?? I read about this like last October or September. I thought it was initially gonna be released for ps3 (but I guess they were anticipating on having it released by then also) The article I read on it made it sound like fun to screw around w/.
