I played Ultima Online during the late 90's. Sold my accounts for several hundred each at the end and probably 50 million in gold for $100 per million.

Me and my brother made some 1ewt for teenagers.

I sold my Rogue back when my shit was the best gear you can get as a rogue for 800 (AQ/BWL gear pre-naxx), it was pve server and I didnt have any other chars on it. Other rogues with similar gear, more chars, and pvp server sold for about 1200 at the time.

I wonder what the /played time was, odds are the dude could have made a shit load more than that just working a job that pays minimum wage, but hey making that kind of dough playing a game for hours on end aint too shabby I guess.

Get bored of the game? Sell the account and make some extra cash.

My "uber guild" (top 10 horde guild world wide) had at least a few High Warlords in it.

Exactly...

He probably could have made twice that if he worked for $5/hr, not to mention he would have possibly advanced whatever career he was involved in and could use the work experience in future resumes.
