Selling and buying accounts is something very common in World of Warcraft, even though it's strictly forbidden by Blizzard. Good geared characters are often sold for a few houndred dollars although a few weeks ago one of the currently best geared rogues available was sold - for 7,000 Euro (~$9,700).

The original owner, a Night Elf Rogue named Zeuzo from the guild Method on Sylvanas(EU) was one of the two only people in the world wielding both legendary swords dropping off Illidan Stormrage, final boss of the Black Temple. He also had 4/5 parts of the tier6 armor set, together with various other drops from Black Temple and Mount Hyjal, which could be considered as the best gear available in the game right now.

The new owner goes under the name Shaks and has moved the character to the Kazzak(EU) realm.

That's a hell of a lot of money for a WoW account.

I haven't heard figures like that since EverQuest circa 1999.

WoW is a really easy game so characters tend to not have much value unless they are in the top .001% in the world. I heard the account has the legendary sword set from Illidan though, which puts it in that top .0001%.

I sold my account for 750 bones and it was pretty pimped out for that time.

Anyway, next expansion is less than 1 year away and at that point the account will be crap.

I heard it was a rich guy from Saudi Arabia that bought it though. Glad to see they are making good use of their oil wealth.

The only way you can get gear like that on a private server is to cheat severely.

I doubt you can find 25 non-retarded people on a private server with the skills to take those encounters.

Which means you probably went in there with 4 buddies at lvl 100 with ridiculous made up gear.

Anyway, private servers are a great idea but I've yet to find one that didn't totally suck and disconnect me every 4 minutes.

Either way, 10 grand for a WoW account is ludicrous. But, there really are people out there to whom 10 grand is nothing. Literally nothing. What's 1 dollar to you? That's what 10 grand is like to them.

I don't think those type of people are the typical people dropping 10k on WoW accounts. I had a coworker that was on food stamps that spent all his money on WoW gold and one of his babies almost died because he didn't feed her because he was playing WoW.

Yeah, my character is lvl 100 and I have some cheat equipment that I used to get all the best equipment. It's a pretty ok server. It disconnects maybe once an hour. Yeah, it's not perfect, but it's a maxed out account that I can pvp with and explore everywhere in the game without having to put in 40 hours a week. I had a couple accounts with all the best possible equipment in the game about a year ago, but it just took too much time.
