I've gone to the Hershey factory in Smith Falls before and got to watch all the fudge packers at work. They were all so robotic and mechanical. It was clear to me and all the other onlookers that fudge packing was no longer a joyful experience, and if anything was now a source of pain and stress.
Did fudge packing look difficult? Not really. I imagine initially it would be hard to get into. Being tense and nervous will obviously effect one's ability to pack fudge but those feelings should quickly be overcome as you gain more experience.
Truth be told I don't think fudge packing is for me, but I do know a lot of people who would fit right in. It's not a bad career choice as long as you take the necessary safety precautions against trauma and any fudge related maladies. If you're a strong man between the age of 18 and 34 then perhaps fudge packing is a career for you.
As for me? I'm happy working as the bush trimmer for Ottawa's top landscaping company.
