You would have to be short-sighted not to acknowledge there's an initial and ultimate actor of causation which created this existence as we know it.

Not to mention he won 250K on some game show for what amounted to a fraction of a day's work.

paris hilton is also world-renown with out ever doing a god damn thing

There was a science channel special on IQ tests. They took an IQ test expert, mixed him with an artist, a playwright, a musical prodigy, a physicist, and a few other people. They performed numerous different tests ranging from arts, general education, puzzles, etc etc. The physicist came in first, playwright second, and the IQ test expert came in third.
The point being; IQ tests are nothing more than 'Who can be the most clever under pressured circumstances?'
I'm not saying this guy isn't intelligent. I'm just saying he's not 'The smartest person alive'. The guy shouldn't even be labeled a genius. A genius is someone who takes something that is widely agreed upon, flips it, and changes everyone's mind.

You'd have to be at least as short-sighted to not see the logical problems that the "First Actor" argument raises...to say nothing of the theories in QM that potentially render the "causal chain" dilemma irrelevant.

He is the best evidence yet that the IQ test is a phailure when it comes to judging actual intelligence

Was it 250k? I remember it being like 100k or 150k. oh well. Man, it pained me to see how much basic general knowledge he lacked. His genetics may be impressive, but he hasn't done much of anything with it.

In general I like to think of it this way --- IQ tests (or intelligence tests that are "g" loaded in general) can be viewed as testing hardware performance, the raw processing power of the brain. But the other critical component of the functioning human mind is its "software," the ideas, memories, and personality that you have. Just as the fastest computer is garbage if it has bad software, so the most powerful mind is useless if it has ineffective software loaded into it. You could take a very powerful mind from a human living 50,000 years ago, and it would have been meager in its productivity relative to almost anybody living today, because it would be filled with the ideas of a subsistence culture.
Similarly, a relatively underpowered mind in terms of "g" can often be full of amazing ideas and creativity.
This doesn't mean the logical horsepower measured by IQ tests is irrelevant ... it certainly isn't, but it's not enough by itself. And just as it's much more difficult to write software for a supercomputer than a regular PC, so it's more difficult to harness a stronger mind in a productive way.

Some scientists have argued for its relevance to the use and generation of metaphor, so it's linked with intelligence in an ancillary way. The relationship to language is more interesting per the wiki link:
"The rounded shape may most commonly be named bouba because the mouth makes a more rounded shape to produce that sound while a more taut, angular mouth shape is needed to make the sound kiki. The sounds of a K are harder and more forceful than those of a B, as well. The presence of these "synesthesia-like mappings" suggest that this effect might be the neurological basis for sound symbolism, in which sounds are non-arbitrarily mapped to objects and events in the world."
Guys like Ramachandran and Sacks are a great source of info for this sort of stuff.
