It can be legal, and still be a "scam".
It's a lot like Primerica. Basically, people recruit everyone they know to sell financial products. They help with refinances to help you save $$$ for the long run. It's not really "bad", the advice is sound, it's the recruiting nature that scares me.
Most people shouldn't be financial advisors, but both Primerica and WFG try and get everyone on earth to be selling their shit. That just scares me. However, for most people who can't adequately manage their own money, they are as decent choice as any. (Which essentially means they are not a good choice for anyone who can read and do their own research.)
