If you take enough tests and average out the percentages on the curve, they should converge, but the basic fact that a given numerical score varies over time is not surprising. What is surprising is if the overall distribution varies over time for a group -- which you basically don't see. You also would not expect to see much variation within the same IQ testing protocol.
Just as most people don't "become" smarter in real life either. They generally remain where they were in elementary school on the bell curve of intelligence, relative to others.
Btw, if you are interested in this subject, the wikipedia has some terrific articles on it. It's hard to beat, and cuts through many of the most common preconceptions regarding IQ testing.

Man, I tried so hard to find a typo in there. Thanks for the info, will check out Wikipedia. But like you said in your opening paragraph, IQ is a relative concept and as stated in the second paragraph, IQ does not really change within groups. I am just concerned that the test might be targeted to a very specific segment of the population. I am not sure how IQ tests are administered in later ages (perhaps Wikipedia will have that info?), but it seemed that the ones given at younger ages catered toward certain people. I say this mainly because of a few real life examples, e.g. a friend of mine was graded at near retarded and he ended up going to Stanford.

No idea what EQ is but I don't have a great deal of faith in IQ tests either. After all, who made them? What EXACTLY are they measuring? Are they truly objective? How much (if any but I would say they are) cultural bias is involved? IQ tests should not be relied upon as our sole measure of intelligence, I think it more likely that the IQ test is only the beginning of our exploration in this area.
As a kid (15 or so) I scored 158, 10 years on I scored 143. Beer and a hobby involving getting kicked in the head havent helped :-/
