Debian Linux

I've personally used both XP and Vista and would probably stick with XP...

that is true, but again..just another vista inconvenience were the user is FORCED to research and adjust, rather than it being engineered and designed to be user friendly.

I work for a big company as an IT and i can't even name how many times presenters come in last minute with a presentation they built on their brand new computer with vista and the shit doesn't work and i have to go scrambling to download the compatibility pack. People look at me like i'm the reason its not compatible (any tech dude knows what i'm talking about).

I know its has a cute interface (totally ripped and remixed version of mac osx), but don't let the smooth taste fool you. If u just want a computer to go online and bs with, then by all means, go vista...YEAH! But if you're work is even remotely important, stick with XP. IMO

If I had the choice to pay for a copy of XP, or get Vista for free, I would pay for XP.

What kind of IT person are you? You don't know what you're talking about. Office 2007 has nothing to do with Vista, it's not part of the OS. With Office 2007, you can save a file in the new format (for example, .docx) or in the 97-2003 format (for example, .doc).

If you're going to bash Vista, at least get it right.

After using Vista (Ultimate), I couldn't go back to XP. XP is a little "snappier" but it's just much easier to get stuff done in Vista, where XP would have taken you like 10 clicks.
