I've been using Vista since Christmas and I've honestly not really had any major issues with it yet. As a matter of fact, six months later and I'm still running on the first install.

However, I don't think you really need to upgrade. XP does almost everything just as well and if directx10 isn't important to you, there's no reason to switch.

only get vista if it's pre-installed.

XP, and upgrade when vista, and other product drivers are better.

I'd just stick to XP. My Vista experience has been shit. You ever try to transfer a file in Vista? Good luck. I once moved files from 1 folder to another folder on the same HD using Vista and it took 20 minutes (no joke.)

I made some anti-Vista threads here myself and I am now back to XP. I am never going to Vista or whatever else until I am forced.

hate vista and now mircrosoft is trying to strong arm it as the norm.

Need a driver that doesn't exist for EVERYTHING. If its not a brand new component, it will not work with vista. Nothing works with vista.

It also uses more ram and disk space than xp, so if u don't have a reasonably modern computer, it turns your whole experience into dial up frustration.

Also for students or corporate workers, vista has a different version of office that is completely uncompatiable with xp. So if u have a project at work or school and u build it in vista...when u get up to present, your file won't even open and you'll look like a loser. F#*k Vista!

There is an update you can download that will let you open up old Office files in Office 2007.

Vista has not been implemented by many corporations because it is still pretty new and untested and isn't the new O.S, Windows 7 coming in 2009 or 2010?

I got Vista when I bought my laptop in January, and I haven't had any problems with it, but it was a pain in the ass to get used to it. I'm still trying to get the hang of it 6 months later.

Vista doesnt work unless you have 2 gigs of ram, then it barely works, the file system is screwed up, drivers dont exist for some hardware, and for people who manually disabled parts of XP that werent needed, Vista has more unnecessary parts and most cant be disabled.

I have Vista on my new laptop i bought a couple of months ago and i can honestly say it runs fine. I find that it it just computer geeks who have something against the 'corporation' and the 'man' who seem to have problems with it.
