Windows XP or Vista?

I recently had to return my laptop to Hewlett-Packard because my wireless internet software was missing. In fact, the hardware seemed non-existent as well, but that's not the point to the story. At the time I shipped my computer in, I had upgraded to Windows Vista.

I absolutely hated Windows Vista. I had so many issues with it that never really inhibited me to the point where I couldn't use my computer, but annoyances abounded. When I got my computer back, the company had to replace my hard drive (meaning that almost 60 gigabites of info I had saved on my computer was erased - yeah, FUCK HP for that ), and my operating system downgraded to Windows XP.

Honestly, I like XP a thousand times better than Vista, but I don't want to make the same mistake with this computer as I made with my previous computer. I didn't upgrade it, and now it's running Windows ME. So although I like XP better, is it better to upgrade once again to Vista? I'm not very computer savvy, so I'd like to hear the pro's and con's.

Which do you prefer, and why?

Vista has been perfectly fine for me. I don't understand all the bickering about it. What's wrong with it?

I hated Vista at first but I got used to it. I’m as comfortable with it now as I was with XP (which I loved).

Those Mc-PC commercials are so exaggerated. Funny, but inaccurate.

Lots of aggravations. I know there's a learning curve to any new OS, but even when I figured my way around Vista, I still had aggravations with it. Internet connections, installing and running programs... I honestly wish I would have kept a journal of things that have been wrong. Like I said, it was nothing to the point where I couldn't use my computer, but what was simple on XP took upwards of 20 minutes to solve on Vista. One thing that changed when I upgraded was my cable connection, but that's a long, boring story. Also the settings can get aggravating (like Windows Firewall, which isn't a problem on XP because I can run the best firewall around, Sygate PF).

Anyway thanks for the responses. I want to keep XP but I don't know if it would be wise to upgrade to Vista for the long term, even with all of the annoyances I'm having while running it.

Also, Office 2007 is HORRIBLE. Microsoft really fucked that up, IMO.
