Wife Beating - Neighbor sent to the Women's Shelter!

Last night i heard a lot of noises during my sleep. Around 2 am last night, I woke to hear shouting, crying and the sound of hard objects hitting flesh. Today, I found out that my neighbor, who is a very nice lady, was abused by her boyfriend, who smashed her apartment, and left. I feel pretty bad since her boyfriend is a very small man, physically, and I remember waking up and thinking to myself "Should I get up and see what's wrong?" and than falling asleep while debating the issue. If I did act, I would have surely beaten him up, unless he had a weapon. I feel pretty bad and since I could have taught him a lesson, but refused to act as it genuinely never crossed my mind that this could be serious. He ran away with her car, and she is in a Women's Shelter, fearing that he will return and be abusive.

Don't know why I posted this, I guess just to vent!

Any thoughts or similar experiences? Words of advice, may be?

I had a similar experience to yours. I was friends with this girl and we just lost touch with each other for various reasons. Well, a couple of years later we got back in contact with her. Well, i found out soon after we stopped speaking to each she got into a very abusive relationship. The guy was abusive mentally and physically. I often think if i would have only stayed in contact with her things might have been different for her i could have helped her.

Honestly you shouldn't beat yourself up over the fact that you didn't do anything, your human. Who knows what might of happen if you did go over their. You could find the shelter and visit this chick and tell her your sorry and wish you could have helped. You never know it might make her feel better.

I did go to see her, and she is pretty beat up. She has a black eye, the kind you would expect to see depicted on TV. It's pretty sad how much the guy affected her life; she is off from work, and has to answer many questions. I can imagine it being embarrassing/uncomfortable answering questions about the condition of her face.

If I ever see him around, he's in trouble.

It's too bad you didn't go over there and beat the crap out of that guy. I can't stand that kind of bullshit. Guys like that need to be taught a lesson.

If you ever run into him and kick his ass please bump this thread so I can e-congratulate you.

You are not superman and you can't fix the world.

Other peoples problems are their problems.
