I'm not American, just want to ask if you're planning to relocate because of the recession.

There is no recession. To be a recession, the economy has to lose for 6 consecutive months. In the last quarter, it gained. Thus, not a recession.

I work in small town China (in the south-east) teaching English as part of an NGO. The pay is minuscule when converted to first-world currency, but I spend less than half of my salary and live extremely comfortably. The work load is very small and I have as much free time as I want. Got it through the NGO, a training course is required along with a Bachelor's degree or higher in anything.

I think it's not a recession in the technical sense as you mentioned, but it is in the broad sense. And how would you explain JP Morgan saying "the recession will not be over soon"? And how can you tell if you're in China?

GDP numbers are posted online for all to see. It's being called a recession to get attention and make headlines, because "slow growth" doesn't make anyone react -- say "recession" and people immediately react.
