"If you're a serious writer, who writes every day, and not a wannabe, here's a ray of hope in those statistics.
Of the 35,000 scripts registered, close to 90 percent, perhaps more, are unproduceable, not because of their topics, but because of their abominable craft deficiencies.
Another 5% will die on topic. That leaves 1,750 REAL contenders, so 57% of viable screenplays are bought. But only 14% get made. So to get your screenplay produced, you have to top 86 pretty good contenders."
another statistic. though most will be in the 90%

Okay, Ash first of all, It is true, there is a particular format u want to display it in, however, screw everyone else. Theres plenty of books that will explain how to do it, dont bother with anyone else, if what u say is true and its a great idea, then the last thing u want is some douche saying "Hey wheres my cut? Itll take you 5 minutes to learn the format, learn it.
What J storm says is true, 99% dont make it,ive read that too.
-You dont have to be in LA, but it helps, not every single scriptwriter lives in LA. You can still be succesful outside.

The content may be dynamite, but it would be a huge challenge to get someone to read it unless it looks right.

this is very true, which is why i'm an aspiring screenwriter
that 90% includes dumbass actors and waiters who write screenplays on microsoft word and include pictures and who they think should be cast in the roles.

You need to live in one of the big industry cities if you're serious. The only screenwriters that don't live in the mega-media cities are the ones that have already made it in the business.
