EDIT: Maybe you meant those Smirnoff coolers. In that case yeah, you probably wanna stay away from those if you don't want to be constantly harassed for drinking girly drinks. Any liquor will get you good and fucked up (e.g. Vodka, Whiskey, Rum Tequila, Bourbon, etc.). But if you're an inexperienced drinker, do not go for this. Shit has a tendency to creep up on you and if you don't know what you're doing you'll think "Hah! I'm superman! I've had three drinks and I feel totally sober! Time for some shots!" You'll keep feeling like that for about 20 minutes until the shit hits you and you'll be hugging a toilet seat for the rest of the night or making a complete ass out of yourself somewhere.

I've tried absinthe a few times and you're right, you don't hallucinate. That's because the active ingredient that makes you trip isn't legal and therefore not in the recipe for the absinthe we can buy at liquor stores (big surprise, huh?). I think you can get real absinthe in parts of Europe. For an extra fun time though, try shooting it straight without the sugar cube and water dilution. Good times...
