I would also not reccomend Flash. You can do everything with dhtml and whatever programming language your server supports. Ideally you would use PHP and mySql.

it depends entirely upon what you want.

a flash site isn't always required.
amazon, msn, microsoft.com = no flash
a professional site can be done with pure html and tables. trust me.
hit me up on aim: promotional
I have contacts.

For a large e-commerce site 5k is nothing. Especially when done in Flash. Unless done extremely well, Flash is not the way to go for a site like that. Straight up PHP/MySQL, HTML/CSS and some ********** would be the way to go with that sort of site.
If you need any help, let me know.

Tables are becoming obsolete, just so you know. Just an FYI. Look into using CSS more!

I'm not working or making any money right now. I'm trying to be pretty conservative.

But I agree, it doesnt seem like the type of thing you want for a business. I mean a business that doesnt involve two people fighting in a cage.

No. Dont get confused with a flash site and a site that has flash elements on it. A lot of sites ESPN.com, UFC, have flash headers, but the rest is not flash. Using flash for navigation is a bad idea
Now the sittes UFC builds for the events - UFC69.com are entirely flash. However it is not recomended for ecommerce. Look at the most successfull ecomerce sites, Ebay, Amazon

Also, for that many pages and ecommerce, 5grand is nothing. Your reaction is not uncommon. People dont know what it takes to build these things the right way.
