mma people we are the nicest
mma people why are we so nice ? 1 of the younger lads from the pub came with me to pick up my tickets for cage rage he met alex ried, gary smiler turner and half a dozen rock hard people that looked like they could snap you in half and eat ya , then as we watched them training he saw a few skinny weedy looking guys doin take downs etc and he realised every one there could get it on .my friend was visibly shaken by it all as apart from a few mugs taking air shots and hair pulling in the pub he had not seen violence before sensing this a few of the lads went up shook his hand end generally put him at ease he came away sayin that they were the nicest people he had ever met and you know what he is right they are , then he said are they nice coz they have nothing to prove or is it coz they use all their aggression or even is it just that they have respect for every one for the 100 pound weed sitting in the corner could be good enough to snap your arm in a second . I'd like to add I've never met an ass hole yet who loved his mma so why are we so nice ? and give yourselves a pat on the back guys i'm proud

People that know they can hurt others don't feel the need to prove it for no unjustified reason. A lot of MMA guys know they can do damage but also realise the consequences that would arise from breaking someone's arm in a street fight. As a result, most would rather keep the violence in a gym where people are cool, understand the techniques and are able to tap out. It's one thing to think you're a tough guy beating people up in a pub, it's another to know you can do serious damage but would face a much more severe punishment if it went to court because of your MA knowledge.

I think people who train are generally OK.
But MMA fanboys can come across like assholes. "TKD SUCKS", "hehehe armbar" (before cranking my fucking arm). Not assholes as in they look for fights with random people, but just immature and stupid (and reckless).
But most are pretty cool people.

This guy is awesome !
**Update** Bombed out in 2004 Olympics, missing all three attempts on a 157.5 snatch in 77 kilo division. Bad luck !

Most people that have trained MMA for over a year or so are ok. There's a lot of new idiots comming along since TUF came on the air.
I had a really old Tap Out shirt on like a month ago and some idiot in a bar was like "Where'd you get that, the internet, I train brazillian Jiu Jitsu with blah blah blah."
I was like "Actually I did, like 4 years ago though."
Silence.
Then later he got into a fight in the parking lot with some idiot.

They'd better cut that out real soon. All the years of grappling and striking won't help em against bullets or being vastly outnumbered.

i find the older-school fans are usually great, humble guys. no offense to the tuf-era crew, but there are just a lot of idiots amongst them who think they're bad because they've got an armbar on their buddies in their apartment. there are many exceptions to that of course.
