Icon14 Visiting Paris -- The City of Light

Hey Sherdog,

I'll be visiting Paris in April with my girlfriend for the very first time. Never been to continental Europe before! I think we'll be staying for about a week and a half.

Other than the typical tourist traps like the Arc d'Triomphe, Champs-Elysees, Eiffel Tower, and the Louvre, what are some places you'd recommend that we see?

How about recommended restaurants? Any personal favs? I'm not looking for anything too hoity-toity, I prefer a good hearty cheap meal over anything too fancy.

Since we'll be staying for over a week, are there any day-trips into the surrounding area we should consider?

Thanks a lot guys.

Dont go to Paris, over crowded, pricey, and people are utter arrogant ...

Go to small cities around ...

Nice hotel: Bel-Ami in St. Germain (somewhat pricey, nice rooms, good location, great concierge).

Disagree..
Yeah, you could proboably sleep and eat in the outskirts, but Paris is great man.
Go to the cemetary. Pere Lachaisè (spell).
Visit the tombs of Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde and others.
Its a beautiful place.
