"Victims" Call For Police Help: I Lost My Car in a Drug Deal

This is just crazy to me. For drugs, people will let a drug dealer "borrow" their car and then when it isn't brought back, they will go to the police and tell them that their car was stolen. Even after they admit that they traded it for drugs, the police can't arrest them because supposedly they haven't broken any laws! Here's a link to the article in the Syracuse Post Standard.

Man that is just ridiculous. The dipshits who admit to trading their car for drugs should be held liable for the shootings and stuff that happens with them. And these idiots shouldn't be able to report the damage done to their car to their insurance company.

I wonder if the police are obligated to help them get their car back (I highly doubt it)

Also, providing this kind of testimony may just set them up for a SURPRISE bust in the future, their previous statement gift-wrapped in a police report and all ready for court when the time comes

I don't know. I know the article talked about the police wasting their time looking for these cars while they could be doing other things, like patrolling Syracuse. Apparently it needs it.

Its sadly true. I saw on cops the other day a guy bought a prosititue and she stole his car and he didnt get in any trouble at all because as the cop said " No wrong gives someone the right to steal your truck" lol crazy times.

Well I guess from a cop's point of view, if they look for the car then they'll have a reason to arrest the drug dealer and lock him up, maybe even search him for extra charges whereas before, they wouldn't be allowed to do any of that so it makes sense; there is a legal "profit" to be made

Plus they can keep their eye on the plaintiff and keep his statement on record, so double whammy. Too bad they can't use his statement as a confession
