One BBC reporter was treated to this secret game behind doors, and he said he was left "speechless".

"I was shown a trailer for a game not due out till 2009 but was sworn to absolute secrecy," says the BBC reporter.
Being careful not to reveal any specific details, he goes on to say: "I don't mean to be a tease - all I can say is that I was left speechless.

"If the footage I was shown truly is 'in game', as told to me by the Sony PR people, then we could be on the brink of a step change in what games consoles are capable of in terms of story-telling and immersion," reads the excited report.

Today a German website posted some pictures using a cellphone and they have also supported the BBC reporter saying it left them speechless and that surpasses Crysis, Me tal Gear 4, and Killzone 2 in terms of graphics. They first said it was a real time game demo and is most likely the one that the BBC reporter saw. Even Phil Harrison was surprise to hear that the reporter saw it.

Now N4G reports that is an original title by Sony.

I have said it since I started talking about the PS3. PS3 has untapped power and i will say it again PS3 will surpass 360 in terms of graphics and immersion within this year and especially next year. This is just the start of PS3 titles showing that the PS3 was not just hype.

If those are, in fact, in-game, that's pretty nuts. But I still want to see these in a larger resolution; caps that small always look more crisp.

Update: "Okay, some new information. Seems that this was shown b y a demoscene group called Plastic. Sony Computer Entertainment trademarked the title Linger In Shadows back in November 2007. The demo for this was shown at the Breakpoint 2008 gathering this weekend, saying it would release publicly on the PlayStation 3 as a possible graphical showcase for the system. They said it isn't really a game."

nope...this game is top secret for sony right now and even phil harrison was surprise to hear that the BBC reporter was able to see the game.

N4G has said it is not just a tech demo but a full playable game.

Earlier this month I noticed a dev, on my friends list playing a game that I didn’t recognize. This game was LingerInShadows… I know its a game, because it had a PS controller/game icon, next to the title. I asked this dev what the game was, but never got a response.

So you heard it here first. LingerInShadows is not just a technical demo. Its a game, and I am being as bold as to say its the game that had a BBC reporter “speechless“"

yeah the website masters were only able to take shots with a cell phone. they got lucky no one saw them bc it is a top secret game right now.

I'm starting to believe that this is a tech demo and not a game. They're claiming that these screens were take via cell phone. Can someone point me to a cell phone that takes screencaps of that quality? I call BS. Those screencaps look like the thumbnails to official stills, which would mean the cellphone bit is a lie, and so is the claim about only being able to get them that way from "being on the inside".
