talk to the boys from alaska here... my brother has spent his summers up there as a fishing guide for years. he worked a solid 5 years out of talkeetna which is a tiny ass but fun town to visit. my advice as to any vacation planner.. talk to the locals.

Luckeeeeee...!

I'd learn how not to get myself killed by the wildlife first. Fishing, hiking, climbing, train rides... Where to start?

Have a blast!

Hey man I'm from the Yukon and when I'm up there we spend a lot of time in Haines and Skagway fishing, the 4th of July parade in Skagway is sick Anyway if you like fishing/boating/hiking or the wilderness in general, Alaska is a good place to be

What part dude? I lived in Fairbanks for three years. If you do go to Fairbanks, please go to two restaurants & report back. There was a Chinese restaurant called Ah Sa Wan, or something like that. Best Chinese food I've ever had! We used to go for lunch & dinner. It was that good. Also, please check the Royal Fork. Southern style cuisine in Alaska! The food was excellent! Did I mention that Alaska is the home of the king crab? .

What ever you do, take a Seward trip. It's an out of body experience to see a whale & porpoises swimming in close proximity to you. Do as many things that require you to be close to nature & take lots of pictures. And if you're offered bear or moose meat, try it! Buy some nice souvenirs.
