Thinking of joining the navy

I dont know why, but today i just had an epiphany.

I always wanted to see the world, and they say join the navy if you wanna do that. And i really wanna do something with my life, AND i want to serve my country. So i figured the best way to do all of that was to go join the navy. Anyone wanna chime in, and shed some light on what its likes to be in the navy?

im 17 and out of high school btw

I was in the US Coast Guard and it was a really enjoyable experience. Got to travel to the Bahama's, Aruba and other place's and the plus was I got to live in Key west

one of my closest cousins is a cook in the navy and he always reminds me that its an option. one of the biggest perks he says is being able to travel. the con is that he's on a boat for half a year....but he has a family.

the best thing to do imo is get a degree first, and then join, so you can be an officer. being an officer on a ship has SEVERAL advantages over being enlisted....showers is one.

join the chairforce instead. unless you want to sit on a boat for 6 months every year. did the recruiter neglect to tell you that? mine did.

You might want to watch/download a couple of episodes of the pbs show "Carrier".

Join the Air Force or Coast Guard. You'll thank me later.
