Awesome thread:

People fuck you (literally) when you are lying in the mortuary. Apparently there was a bidding war when Anna Nicole Smith checked out.

The bit in Kill Bill when she is being raped whilst lying in the hospital bed happens all the time too.

None of the shop theft stuff surprises me. I worked in a shitty store once, my buddy and I saw saw people pick stuff up and walk out with it. We both kind of said "we are being paid jack shit, why risk a physical confrontation."

My sister personally saw a chef stir a glass of milk with his dick, then watch the customer (who was an asshole) drink it.

Financial companies in the UK have to pay when a dispute goes to the financial ombudsman. Even when they are not at fault and win they incur charges. When I worked at one place we would regularly give out cheques for £50 to shut annoying customers up. Even though most of the time we knew they were wrong.

Exactly. I worked at UPS for about three weeks before quitting (actually I quit after two but gave a weeks notice) - hours sucked (5:30 am -9amish) and the work was non-stop and never fast enough. It was a morning pre-load position where a truck is backed up to a dock and you have to unload the truck down a conveyor belt to waiting drivers to load their delivery trucks. The trucks are jam packed to the roof with no room and they are stacked in "walls" of boxes - basically you tip down the wall and they chuck everything on the conveyer. Sure the company had a hand-to-surface rule, but they also wanted you to work at such a speed it was unfeasible. Also fragile boxes were marked with a sticker that could have landed away from my line of sight, so it's getting picked up and chucked like anything else. Of course karma was watching as just as easily as the fragile boxes would go unnoticed, so would the heavy boxes (I believe 7kg+ were marked with a sticker) and some small boxes could be filled with ball bearings or mechanical/auto part and would weight 20lbs+ and when your mindlessly grabbing and chucking it was an easy way to wrench a shoulder or throw out a back.

So I guess the moral of the story is - pay extra to have fragile items packaged well with styrofoam peanuts and such and make sure the boxes are marked fragile on all sides. It still might get chucked, but it has a better chance not to.

You do not need to hire an Architect or Engineer for your home addition project. You can design your own home if you follow the International building code Chapter 23 (wood) Section 2308 (Conventional Light-Frame Construction). First, check with you local building & Safety department in your city for any local ordinances. (Every city has their own building standard). Section 2308 in building code is designed for contractor to build a simple structure without engineering. It is based on many years of wood construction pratice experience that eventually get in the code. If you follow the tables and requirement carefully, you can size the roof rafter, ceiling, floor joists, stud size and spacing, and lateral bracing requirement such as earthquake or wind depending on where you live in the country. If you decide to build your home based on the code section. Be sure to check all the basic limitations described in the section and table. Finish your design on at least 24" x 36" paper size and hire a computer drafter to draw your plans with all the standard and typical details. Include at least one sheet of general notes include all the material specifications. These are common standards and the drafter can collect this information for you.

About half of the restaurants in my area are disgustingly unsanitary. The kitchens smell of rot and you must practically chisel off the grease to get work on the appliances.

Ouch.
I've marked it up as much as 400% while managing the beverage part of an italian restaurant. Liquor and beer too.

To further edit: No one ever spat in food or did anything dirty other than sweat all over it. Its hot in a kitchen. The beverages were not ever diluted, and different alcohols were not mixed or substituted.

When I was behind the bar I would steal/make about $500 a night. The tables were all paying for my regulars and friends to drink because of the high prices. They would tip me ridiculously because their shit was free. If someone was wasted out of their mind and being a dick, I might steal their money by short changing them. I stole $97 from a drunk asshole once. I almost stabbed him with the bar knife.

My sister has been trained to be an EMT. She told me many people are killed on accident by ignorant EMT's. Something about a tube being put down the wrong hole in your throat. She is also a vet and animals are also killed on accident, from ignorant vet's. She also said if your animal is mean they are mean back. When they say they played with your animal they usually haven't.

First of all, the amount of thievery in the world is alarming.

I worked at a Vet clinic in college and if your dog or cat was mean it slept in its own filth and barely got fresh water. In hindsight it wasn't their fault so it was mean, but I didn't care at the time.

I was a Correctional Officer and It is hard as hell to smuggle anything into a County jail. You have to know somebody dirty. None of the other guards are losing their jobs for that asshole so they will narc a dirty guard out in a heartbeat. Bending rules is how people get hurt.

If you need an appliance fixed call the local guys who sell parts but don't do service. I've fixed tons of washers and dryers and never picked up a screwdriver. Guys call and ask me what I think their problem is, I tell them.

Vacuum tune-ups are a rip. Places will charge you 40 bones to change the bag and belt and wipe your vac off.

Oh yeah, that hotel Alisha Keyes supposedly stayed at is complete dive and in no proximity whatsoever to any concert venue. Seems unlikely for astar of her caliber.

not so new cars

A pretty high percentage of brand new cars that are sitting a new car dealerships have had body work done. I used to own a small body shop and the dealerships kept me in business with the amount of brand new cars they brought to me.
They would even have the plastic still stuck all over the outside, the way they come from the factory. Then they take it back and put it on the lot and sell it as new.
The damage comes from the guys who drive the car hauler semis. Everything from small scrapes and dings, to dropping cars on top of one another.
I would estimate that about 15% of them get some kind of damage.
