The govt will put up traffic signs just to get people to stop complaining. Speed bumps too.

Yep I worked for Traffic Operations as a warehouse manager. Towards the end of the fiscal year I bought all kinds of worthless stuff to maintain our budget for the next year. I bought a 55gl drum of cleaner, and drilled hundreds of holes into it, just to waste money. I also used to kill one bee with an entire can of wasp spray. Honestly we could've gotten away with half the budget.

My Dad used to be a Health Inspector. Indian restaurants are the worst, they reuse food ALL the time, and make you feel like a weirdo for pointing it out.

This happened many moons ago, but I was with a friend when he got caught for stealing shit at a major retail store. He was outside of the store about 2 steps out the store entrance perimiter and a punk ass guard (must have been a very old teenager at the time like 19) grabbed him by the arm and took him inside. Of course, I had to bare witness to all of this as they took me as an accomplice when I was clearly outside the store (albeit like 10 steps) and the guy gave a huge scolding to us. Then my friend had to call his parents and break the news. Boy oh boy was his dad super pissed when he came to pick us up. I think the security guy said that the "store" decided not to press charges on us.
But I was about to high tail and run my ass off out of there, but the guy had physically took my friend in and I couldnt just leave him like that.
But I dont know if this was an unique case or what, because it was a piece of shit mall and still is to this day. So, potentially my friend could have filed a battery and assault charge on the guard for doing that. But in the end, we got banned from ever going into that major retail store again.
I recently went back since I knew that same security guard would not be working there as its been many years, and needless to say the place looks like a whole sack of shit with like an underaged employee working the front. Pathetic.
|
I worked as an undercover security guard at kmart and we had full authority to tackle people in the parking lot if they ran. this never happened to me, but we heard from some dude that worked with us that at his previous job at a department store doing the same thing, he and his coworkers would get into fist fights with shoplifters

I knew a guy who worked for Walmart and got killed for going after shoplifters. These two guys stole some crap and this guy who was my cousin's stepson was after the dudes. So when the shoplifters left the store, for some stupid reason my cousin's stepson grabbed a friend and went after them. They jumped in a car and started chasing them in the car. The shoplifters drove to a quiet parking lot and got out. My cousin's stepson and his friend got out ready to rumble, when the shoplifters pulled a gun out and shot them. My cousin's stepson died and his friend was ok. Pretty dumb trying to save the world's biggest company the cost of a dvd player or whatever it was they stole.
Also, about the throwing boxes around thing. When I worked for Best Buy I was one of the ones that had to unload the trucks. No matter what was in it, if the box was light enough to be thrown, it was. We didnt purposely try to damage crap, we were just trying to hurry up and get the hell out of there since we usually stayed till at least 1 or 2 in the morning unloading the damn truck.

Having been a History "TA" at a community college -
This was stated earlier, but depending on the course, professors will just skim over your paper and check the works cited (History type courses especially) , number of pages, and neatness, rather than the quality of work you invested, while often reading the first paragraph for a general idea, then skimming the rest. It is vital to do well on papers during the beginning of the semester, as professors will be more strict and try to rid the class of future dropouts (especially courses required of all students). It's not that they are lazy, it is just a lot of work to read 800+ pages, and is often done in their own homes. Some teachers award you for making it through the course and grade easier towards the end. If the teacher is one to remember student names (about half do), be respectful! A girl was caught text messaging and the teacher knew her name and gave her a 0% in participation without ever telling her, resulting in a D rather than a C. If you ever go to your professor for advice on an essay and they know who you are, you are likely to receive a better grade then you may have deserved. quantity=quality is many cases, as long as the quantity isn't utter garbage.

i used to work at applebees as a cook. All of the noodles, pasta dishes and what not are all microwaved, they are pre packaged in small steyrophome containers. Really though they are a legit place. The steaks are cooked over a broiler, everything else is cooked on a flat top stove. Besides almost everything being pre packaged its a very good place to eat at. If you are an asshole to the waitresses though they WILL somehow make sure they fuck your order up.

Maybe in community college, not at University though. I have TA'ed for three years and this simply is not the case.

Its individual store policy.

I used to work for Sears. I chased down a serial grab and goer for half a mile and tackled him. They were mad at me, but I finally caught the guys who would grab a hot water heater and push down cashiers. Made us mad
