Ugh the process for getting any meat from it's birth to your plate is pretty fucking nasty, same goes for milk and eggs.
As for what I know...not that it pertains to anyone here:
It's not rare for you to order a salad at Burger King and it be as much as 5 days old. I used to do the prep at Burger King (and know people who have worked at other ones) and unless there is actually rotting veggies in the salads (like gooey tomatoes or really gnarly lettuce) you're told to just stick a new date sticker over the old one. After that I refuse to eat a salad at any fast food type place, I just can't help wondering how freaking old it is.
Oh, and at Wal-Mart there are people hired to walk around in regular street clothes and just look for people who are suspicious/stealing. They're security guards but you'd never be able to tell by looking at them, but they will watch from a distance if they think someone is up to something.
