Many times different liquor "qualities" are the same base plus some extra 5% of something different. Maybe some color or acidity or density changes and bingo. A "better" more expensive product.
Sometimes a 10 dollar bottle of wine and a 30 dollar bottle of wine have very little difference.
Maybe 5% of an oak-saturated wine, or maybe just some oak essence added. Better packaging is where most of the extra "costs" go.
Same goes with beers..not a big difference really in most cases.
How many people do you know who could truly recognize higher quality beers from a blind sample of 10 glasess? you would be amazed at how little can people do to recognize higher quality liqueurs...even wines of whisky.
cheers.
