Even if your cell phone has no service, you can still call 911 for emergencies. Phone companies don't advertise this.

I've been in Mortgage Finance for a while now, and what you're describing is actually called: a Debt-to-Income Ratio (often abbreviated DTI)

DTI = Monthly revolving debt divided by monthly net income. example: 1,200 / 2,400 = .50%

Considering California's high cost of living, we're actually pretty lenient on DTI a little over 50% (assuming the borrower has seasoned assets like property equity, stocks, bonds, 401K, IRA, etc..)

I've read through the first 72 pages of this thread and am yet to see much on the fitness industry so i'll share a few with you...BTW, most of these are pretty obvious but some of you might not be aware.

Be careful when choosing a trainer, especially is you're at a big fitness chain like fitness first or zest. The reason being is that if you're a trainer at one of these gyms, you have to pay the gym for using their equipment (or rather your clients using it)...The average rate is roughly 250 bucks/week for a trainer to rent the gym. So, for every trainer they have, they make an extra $250/week...Do you think they care if the trainer is good or not? No, they still get the money either way so they'll take pretty much any douchebag. And the thing is, most of the trainers will be locked in to say 12 month contracts and trainers that can't get any clients sometimes end up getting second jobs, just so that they can pay off the gym rent.

Another thing to look out for when choosing a trainer, is their qualifications. Don't be fooled by words such as "master trainer" etc. It doesn't mean s hit. What you need to look for is where they attained their certification from. A college/Tafe/University student knows a f uckload more than a trainer certified by an institute e.g Australian Institute of fitness (AIF).

Generally, people don't know anything about fitness, so it's very easy for a PT to lie to you. If you ask your trainer a complicated question that they don't know the answer to, they will either give a vague answer or will respond with something along the lines of "I'll get back to you on that"...When in their heads, they're actually thinking "WTF is this guy talking about, i better google this s hit when i get home"...A trainer that isn't lazy might go back and dig up their class notes to find your answer.

If a trainer asks you personal questions, they're not trying to impose, they're actually showing (or pretending) that they give a f uck about you. Also any minor details you tell them about yourself and personal life they will remember in their head and take note of it after the session is over. This is so they can bring it up at the next session. So for example if you tell a trainer that you have an important soccer match on the weekend, he will take note of that and ask you about it in the next session. This is also used to avoid awkward silent moment, which can be quite common if you (as the client) are sitting on a bike/treadmill/whatever at constant speed e.g. during a warm up.

If a PT is a very good talker but has little to no knowledge, than is is very easy for them to bulls hit their way through a session. Like i said before, generally, people don't know anything about fitness (even when you think you do, you really don't) and PT's can easily take advantage of this.

Yes, trainers will sleep with their clients and the ones that do, often do so with more than one person, will seek out a demographic and almost exclusively train them, purely for the sex. The downside of this is that the people you're sleeping with don't expect to have to pay for any sessions, since you're intimately involved and ultimately you will end up making no money and going broke.

Be careful what you tell your trainer about yourself because they will discuss it with other trainers and friends.

This might seem obvious, but the trainer that costs the most is usually better than the cheap ones. Cheap trainers are either just starting out in the business or have been in the business for a while, havn't been successful and have a very small (or no) client base and are desperate for new clients.

If you find your sessions repetitive, get a new trainer because if you're doing the same thing all the time the PT either has very little knowledge, couldn't be bothered changing up your program because they couldn't care less about you or completely forgot they had you in their schedule and are either making s hit up on the spot or jotted down something 2 minutes before the session started.

If you do a basic warm - up like a bike ride or treadmill run and you find that it's going for longer than usual, than it's a good sign that the trainer is stalling for time, hasn't prepared a session for you and is trying to make shit up in his/her head whilst your pedalling/running.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, you don't have to do something just because a trainer tells you to...Remember YOU'RE paying THEM.

There's so much other stuff i could add, but can't think atm, i'll probably add later. Like i said, this isn't exactly riveting stuff but some of you may have found it interesting...I don't know.

Other unrelated things...

If you see in need of first aid, then you are suppose to ask for their consent before helping them. If they say, no, they don't want any help, then you can't do anything except leave the situation and let them die. Obviously, if the person is unconscious, you give them first aid.

Casino chips are used instead of money because people don't have an emotional attatchment to chips, the same way they do to money.

If you're at a sports shop than there's a very easy way to get stuff cheaper than retail. If the barcode is stickied onto an expensive piece of equipment that you want, than all you have to do is peel it off and switch it with another cheaper one. Most of the time, the person working the counter won't know the difference between a 30 dollar cricket bat and 400 dollar cricket bat.

This is pretty obvious but TV commericials are played at select times. For example, before school hours, toy companies will be heavily advertised to target the children watching cartoons at this hours. Similarly, fast food adverts usually play around dinner time.

Getting into VIP areas is insanely easy if you have a card around your neck and you don't act suspicious.

Triple post...

This one happend to me while i was at school. In grade 11, i was doing economics, never did any work and i mean literally none - me and my mate use to sit in the back corner and talk about s hit in every lesson whilst the teacher talkt to the class and the class offered their opininons. Basically it was a discussion on world news, extremely easy. But anyway, i got an exam back one time and you know how when you do an exam and you don't the answer to a question, you just sometimes write something random down to give yourself piece of mind "hey if i write something down, you never know it might be right"...Well, i did this for this exam and to my suprise, the answers i wrote down were ticked right when clearly they were wrong. I compared answers to my mate beside me and we both couldn't believe it...And it wasn't one of those questions where opinion was required it was a straight black and white answer - you were either wrong or right, nothing else. I had entire section wrong on the exam that was ticked as right. The reason the teacher probably did this was because if teachers turn in crappy grades than the higher ups get suspicious and wonder WTF is going on in the classroom and the teacher could get fired as a result.

To summarise above paragraph - teachers will raise your mark so that it reflects better on their teaching skills and they keep their job

I once got ripped off by a dentist...

This was 2 years ago, i went in because i have an extremely sensitive tooth and can only chew on one side of my mouth as a result. So anyways i go to the dentist, explain the problem, he takes a look, gives me some "special toothpaste" sends me out 250 bucks poorer...Of course, the paste didn't do jacks hit so i had to go back to him and i actually told him - "i'm pretty sure i just need a filling put up there"...And he was all like "well maybe you do"...So what he did this time was put in a temporary filling, which lasted a week before it just dissolves away. This seemed to fix the problem until my next appointment, which was the following week and THIS time i got the actual filling put in. It worked for a bit, but about a month after, my tooth started to hurt again and i rarely chew on that side of my mouth. The whole thing ended up costing me over 1000 bucks and i havn't been back to a dentist since.

Yes, dentists f uck you over royally.

^^^^Concerning shady dentists, I live in New Mexico and there's a bit of buzz going around on how it's better to go down to Mexico (Juarez) for dentistry due to the lower costs and equivalent care. So, I decided to check it out. My wife and I went down there for a checkup and cleaning. The ended up telling us that she had 18 cavities and that I had 3. I was pretty freaked out and surprised by this since I've only had 2 cavities my whole life. So, six months later we decide to go to a local dentist. It turns out that I dont have any cavities and my wife only has 3. Apparently, the mexican dentist saw dollar signs when he saw an american with insurance walk in the door.

Used to be a 911 dispatcher.

People call 911 all the time to report barking dogs, parking problems, loud music.

10% of the people are 90% of the problem. We called them frequent fliers in the dispatch center.

EVERYBODY lies to get the cops there faster. Even good people. "There's a gang of 20 kids fighting in the street!" Turns out to be about 5 kids hanging out in front of someones house who doesn't want them there.

A dispatch center is way busier than anyone could possibly realize. It's always understaffed with underpaid people working long hours.

Criminals are REALLY FUCKING STUPID.

10% of the cops are 90% of the problem when it comes to bad cops. Most are dudes just trying to make a living. Some, however, are psychopathic pricks.

90% of being a paramedic / fireman is mental focus.
