After that I would take down the item code and go to the computer and void that item out of the inventory as damaged grocery. I'd take my marker and cross the bar code off the bag, and make some sort of signifier that the bag was ripped and "wrote off." Give my friend the bag and my employee discount card, and tell them to tell the cashier it's half price, and then they'll get a 5-lb bag of quality chicken breast for like $4.49. Or if you're just working cashier and your friend comes through your line, scan the items with the scanner, and then just void them on the monitor. No one will notice, and they'll be getting some good free food.

actually, the cashier voiding thing is easily traceable and in fact most places have security setups to prevent such actions from happening. Its the easiest way for loss prevention to catch in store theft.

why go through all that trouble? i worked at a grocery store in high school, and i just took shit and walked out the door with it. less effort and cost zero dollars.

lol one time i did get caught though. we used to steal shit all the time, but one time when a bunch of turkey breasts were done cooking, i took one and ate bunch off of it and then put the rest aside in the cooler. this one older woman who worked there who was one of my bosses pulled me aside and was like omgz you can't do that and shit so i was like "oh yeah. imma pay for it; i just didn't tag it yet," lol and then i threw it away. seriously though the best way to steal shit is to just grab it and walk out with it liek you own it.

yep. ive worked at 2 places as a cashier and at both of them loss prevention gets a list of all voided items. im no longer a cashier, but if you void too many items or an item over $50, a manager has to approve the sale before the customer can even pay.
if you want to help someone steal as a cashier, youd be better moving the merchance infront of the scanner with the upc facing away. & make sure to decensor the merch so it doesnt set off the alarm at the door.
