I completely agree with your views. I would actually argue that removing troubling or violent elements does NOT alter the "real world experience." In the real world, we put those people in jail, essentially removing them or segregating them from society. I think it would be important to teach these kids about consequences, too. The problem with school environments and the juv. justice system is that it gives kids the incorrect notion that they won't ever have to face consequences, then they reach the magical age of 18, and all of a sudden, they have to figure out that your boss doesn't care if you are emotionally disturbed- he just wants you at work on time, not to steal from him, and not to go nuts on a customer, even if that customer was being an ass. They also have to learn that the police and the courts don't care about your SED status, either. They'll put you in jail without a second thought.

China is an awesome country to visit and the people are amazing, but its all a facade.
-The government can come and take your house from you if they need the land for development and doesn't have to pay you. Countless protests are going on right now.
-There are such things as "organ wagons" that look like ambulances but actually remove the organs from lower class people like criminals and the mentally insane. Organs are then sold to the rich.
-A chinese person can be imprisoned or put to death if they assault a tourist. But if said tourist commits a crime like drugs, tourist can then become imprisoned and/or put to death without due process.
-All your letters/packages are opened and read routinely.
-The local PSB can come into your hotel room and take you to jail if you aren't married to the person you are staying with.
-Theft is the most common problem. Punishable by death from local mobs if you get caught red handed.
-Black market trade is widely accepted, even encouraged. Counterfeit is rife and intellectual property means absolutely nothing.
-Most officials (from the lowly public servant to a high ranking official) can be bribed. In fact, most things that need to get done, get greased by bribery.
-China has the largest amount of liquid capital in the world=$$$$$CASH.
-More people die from industrial accidents than anywhere else in the world (mining, construction, etc.)
-Don't ever take pictures of anyone in the military, even if said military looks to be on vacation or relaxing. That is unless you want to spend several days in jail.
-Everyone rips off tourists, in fact, its encouraged. Lots of restaurants have two menus, one for the locals and one for the non-chinese speaking visitors. There are schemes within schemes everywhere. You get major bonus points if you can correctly spot the scams that occur daily.
Remember, the people are amazing and awesome. Its the government you should be very afraid of. Trust me on this.

This is mostly true, especially the corruption, but a lot of it is overblown too. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but with a country of 1.3 billion and more land than the continental US, if you can dream it up, it's happening somewhere.
Scams happen in tourist cities. Get out of tourist town and people don't even know how to rip you off, and will chase you down and give money back if you pay too much.

I was a waiter for 8 years and became very jaded. If you are a dick, I WILL SPIT IN YOUR FOOD! I would absolutely feel no guilt. I've put my pubic hair in food. I would make someone a soda, take a huge sip w/o swallowing, and spit it back in. My opinion is this: if you are condescending or rude w/o provocation - then fuck you, it's war. If I fuck up and you get pissed, that's fine - I'm sorry. The moral of my story is that I was very good at my job. Very charming and personable. I got excellent tips all the time and made great money. I WILL laugh at your shitty jokes, then dip my balls in your soup (seriously). I honestly do NOT feel bad about kissing ass when I listen to your shitty jokes, ignore your disgusting fuckface child throwing their cheerios on the floor for me to clean up later, touch my butthole, then your sandwich, and walk away with a great tip silently laughing maniacally inside to myself.

we get yelled at by customers, managers, and servers. but its decent money and i just shrug it all off with a smile. there is one server that pushes my buttons. iv came very close to hitting him and walking out. im always in the back and managers are always running the line or helping in the kitchen so noone would try it. but im sure they can get away with some stuff if they really wanted to risk it.
its a franchise steakhouse so we have lots of managers. i can see this not being the case for other family owned places etc

You should give that server all the crappy tables. Foreigners, old people, women (all the bad tippers). I find it disgusting when servers treat you guys like that. It's also stupid because you guys have so much control over their money.
