Very elegant sport, always enjoyed watching them in college as they sometimes used the space we used for judo and always had to wait for them to clear.

Are you enjoying it? How steep is the learning curve?

wait until you hit 40 bro. All those fights and bike wrecks and "good"times come back and reak havoc.

I would very much like to fence. Bruce lee studied it for the advancing footwork. Un fortunatly my only "fencing" experience involves a set of jobbers and a steel post driver.

Ever heard of Statiscool? I don't know if he still hangs around but I remember him always talking about his fencing classes in the S&P. He's quite a random guy.

Not sure yet. It starts for me on Wednesday. I'm starting at some community center, but if I end up liking it, I will go to a place that is more advanced and get some serious training. I'm just hoping I can find something that I can still compete in. I was boxing, and I wasn't bad at all. But man, you have these kids that have been doing it since they were six and now they are 20 and they get in there and work the shit out of you. Its fun as hell and if it weren't for the bruises and occassional concussions I'd stick to it. I'm sure I will find the same trend of extremely good young atheletes in fencing, but at least I won't have to leave after a competition looking like I got jumped in a back alley:-)

how old are you anyway? and how heavy are you that you're getting concussions Lol?? Yeah i'd reconsider pugilizing as a sport also if it was for the sake of my noggin.

But i always wanted to take fencing lessions actually, i like their theories of defense and attack because its somewhat similar to boxings in some aspect. With the parries and the calculated lunging and stabbing instead of swinging and all that. If you had 2 boxers with only their left arms thats what the fight would pretty much consist of. Fencing with your arms. LOL.

I'm 26, and technically I've only been KO'd once. Nonetheless, if I continue boxing I'm sure I'll get KO'd soon enough. I just feel fencing will be a fun competitive sports with less brusing.
