this may sound ridiculus but I was heavy into LARP-ing as a yougn teen. a couple of my mates and me had weekly training session, wooden swords and shields + hockey helmets

Yeah, I had to really hunt around, but I found two places that offer a good deal so it only comes out to 95 a month with gear provided until you can buy your own. Then my college has a fencing class so I might take that and join the club if I end up enjoying it at all.

I've done kendo, but I'd love to do western fencing. Anybody in central MA?

I was originally going to try rowing (sculling). But that really was an expensive hobby to try to start.

did you think about bjj at all?

fencing looks pretty fun. But one of your legs will probably be bigger than the other haha.

I did BJJ for a year. I'm looking for something different now, because at 26 I have lots of old pains from previous participation in combat sports. I wanted something lighter but still competitive. Fencing felt like a great fit.
