So I'm going to be moving to London

It's what the cool Australians seem to be doing, so I thought I'd do the same.

Where are good places to live there? I've been looking around and Stockwell and Camberwell look alrite. I'm looking for a place where I could get a decently priced room (like less than 350pound a month) about maximum 15 minutes from the centre.

How much would an average tube/train/bus ride be??

£350 a month will not get you a decent place in London.

From what Ive heard, 350 a week will not get you much at all in london, if anything.

Actually, it may be possible to get near £350/month, depends how many refugees you are going to be living with

I lived way up north of London when I was there 4 years ago, 3 of us had a house with a massive garden that the landlord took care of, it was great apart from the winter, when it was bloody freezing...

If you want to live close to the centre, try looking around Russell Square area, my gf lived around there for a few years. If you want action in the heart of London, you've gonna have to pay in some way...either money, or poor living conditions...

If you want a real classy neighbourhood, try West Hampstead, my cousin lived there for a bit, but I think he was paying close to £500/month

Good luck

There was a huge thread in the Mayberry a bit ago about someone moving to England, I would definitely check that out, it was filled with lots of info

I've seen some ads for vacant rooms on the net for less than 350 pound a month. Sure, looking at the pictures the rooms look really tiny, but all i'm really after is a bed to sleep in and a good clean place to hang out and cook in once in a while.

I'm going indefinitely, which could mean 4-5 months or could mean 10 years. My ultimate goal is to move to Denmark or Sweden, but might be a bit of time before that can happen.
