I agree. First of all, I doubt you lose your job over this unless your boss happens to own the company and it as immature ass. If the company is a decent size, your boss will get raped by upper management if you tell them the reason you were fired.

If you are really friends, you should tell him. Don't put your job ahead of a friendship on an issue of such fundamental importance.

Here's what you do. Find a small safe that doesn't cost a lot of money. I mean really small. Write or print out this:

"This is to [insert your boss' name]. If you are reading this, it's because more than likely your wife has convinced you that I need to be fired. Put the note in the safe and give it to your boss, explaining to put it somewhere in a secure place in his office. If you find yourself getting fired, tell him the combination to the safe.

Put yourself in your bosses place. If your wife was cheating on you, wouldn't you want to know right away? Think of all the future years of misery he might endure only to divorce her for some other reason. Even if the ultimate result is reconciliation, it's better that they start the process early, before either one of them gets another chance to screw around.
